To this day I still imitate her “Louisiana-Lafayette”….it’s the worst.

RE: I HATE listening to Beth Mowins calling a football game.
I remember her or another female calling our Little Caesar’s bowl game against Ohio a while back. One of our RB’s was hurt and when they came back from break she didn’t realize her mic was on. Overheard her saying something to the effect of “hurry up and get him off the field”.

I don’t care for female announcers calling football games. That’s just me, and I am sure that makes me sexist in some way. However, on the flip side I prefer female announcers when I am watching women’s sporting events. To each their own I guess.

I wish that the SBC would give classes to some of these ESPN play-by-play guys so they actually know what they are talking about when discussing the SBC sometimes.

SEC fans are ready to leave CBS because of how bad those two were together / Danielson is now.

Both of those guys get such a bad rap, and I don't understand it. I've always thought they were great, legendary announcers for the SEC.

Rick Burgess from the Rick and Bubba Show (based out of Birmingham) does a great impression of her. They have a weekly alert/warning for any teams playing in Beth called game. I can't find anything on Youtube but it's a regular feature and it's hilarous.

I didn’t see this one until now, but I agree. Don’t blaspheme Uncle Verne.

Here is the list of announce teams for the bowls. It appears that SBC teams will be Mowens free.

Sounds sexist as hell, I know, but if you've never been hit and have no concept of what that feels like you can't describe it to the masses. They can speak to the statistics, rules, and the analytics of the game, but they don't feel that crunch when they see it the way guys do. And that is what makes an announcer authentic. Women football announcers feel forced and not authentic. When a guy goes down with a "hamstring" that is actually a shot to the balls, they have no idea what that's like. It's an invasion of a territory that they don't belong in. I love women that are fans and knowledgeable about the game but announcing should be left to those with whom we can relate to and in turn those who can relate to the game.

There are plenty of male broadcasters out there who are revered by all despite never playing the sports they announce. There’s no reason why a woman can’t do the same. Obviously, a person’s genitals has no effect on their ability to be a good and capable broadcaster.

Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!

Hell there’s a coach in the SEC who didn’t even play football.

When I hear people complain about women calling and coaching womens sports I’ll take the no one wants to her it thing seriously

RE: I HATE listening to Beth Mowins calling a football game.
Back when Big Ten dominated the 11am slot a woman was doing the broadcast on ESPN2 I believe.

Color guy was a former player and sound like Alex Karrass wasn’t him but similar voice.

Offense is backed up to their goal line. QB drops back to pass. Lineman commits a blatant hold and flag flies immediately. Woman doing play by play says looks like holding and that will be a safety. Color dude former player begins praising the lineman for not giving up the the sack and half the distance isn’t much of a penalty.

No it’s holding in the end zone, it’s a safety.

More rambling about smart play.

Cut to ref announces the penalty and it’s a safety.

Mr former player oh critical mistake there with the hold

A woman can know the game and call it and a former player can be a damn idiot.

I enjoyed Uncle Verne on football calls and “in your life have you seen anything like it” in the 16th tower at Augusta.
