Once again EMU has done (is doing) something truly amazing and first class.

High quality housing attracts high caliber students.

Maybe as liked as any EMU professor. Was in a league by himself. EMU gave him virtually every honor they could. As close to a complete person as I've ever met.

I believe he started at EMU around 1970 (I'll have to look it up). He retired in the early 90s after turning 70.

I got to know him in 1991 when I met him at Cobo Arena for the 1991 MAC championship which EMU won. We were close friends until his death in October 2017. I emailed him from West Point to tell him that the EMU/Army game was on CBSSN. He told me it was a dreary day in Ypsi. I later learned that he died that night in his sleep. Bill was 94 but in near perfect health (except diminish vision).

i wouldn't be surprised if an academic building isn't named after him some day.

If EMU ever has a new biology or sciences building to name, Bill Fennel would be a good choice.

I like the A/C in residences... 04-bow

One summer I was a guest student at MSU. I had a class in statistics (probability). It was taught at 1:50 - 2:40 in a classroom which was not air conditioned. The instructor didn't speak great English.

I enjoyed a nap or two... (and yes, my grade reflected it).

Now that I'm retired, I still enjoy an afternoon nap...

Steve, you seem too young to be retired! Well done!

I had a professor named Turner at that time for Biology. (1978)He was excellent. A lot of my friends had Ojela (sp?) and they said that he was also amazing.

One of my "friends" put hung one of those dissected fetal pigs in my 1972 mustang. Good times! lol

I think the renaming is pretty cool.
I’m just glad we didn’t land on GAGG or GAGA as an acronym.

Much like The Breslin Center and Crisler Arena have come to be known as simply Breslin or Crisler, I kind of hope it just becomes Gervin or The Gervin. "Hey did you hear, Eastern is playing MSU at Gervin this year."

It rolls off the tongue well. I think you’re on to something.

I was just checking the upcoming schedule, and saw the arena name updated to “Gervin GameAbove Center”. Has a nice ring to it.
