Per Patrick McGee, a Southern Miss writer/co-host of the Buzzardry podcast. He did a really nice construction of next year's schedule for all 14 teams, showing the transition can be done, at least scheduling-wise. He even highlighted potential midweek games throughout the season, and included a rivalry week. I think it looks fantastic. Bring on the Belt.

Mine is only slightly different. Still finishing it, but the biggest difference is trying to account for who is due what opponent, to avoid situations like traveling to one team twice in a row.

Same theory though. JMU gets 8 league games but can’t win the league. Rest schedule as normal

Not going to lie, it sucks that Coastal and Troy get the shaft and don't get to save an end of season rivalry for the end of season. Also in this rotation what happens in 2023? How does the schedule flip so those two have someone to play? This is where having an odd number in each division without protected rivalries gets quirky and one reason why I think 16 would work better. Then each division has an even number of teams to better make end of the year games. However then you have to have 16 teams fighting for one spot in basketball for example and split the money 2 more additional ways which are big negatives. 16 is definitely better for scheduling though.

In a perfect world I want Arkansas State to finish off the season.

Edit: Southern Miss in September, South Alabama in October, and Arkansas State in November just feels right to me as a Troy fan haha. Either that or switch South and ASU.

Just rotate 2 cross over games each year. Play 6 in division every year. Actually not hard to schedule 14 for football

That confused me for a sec because I met Patrick Magee at our baseball regional against Mississippi St back in 2014 and profile pic didn't look the same.

This is an absolute horrible schedule for Georgia State. We would go nearly 2 full months with only 1 home game.

We haven’t had a really good beat writer since Jason Munz. I liked Nick Suss but he was controversial before getting moved by the CL to Ole Miss’s beat. Andrew Abadie is fine, especially for a small niche publication. The new guy for the Sun Herald who’s a Troy Grad seems like he’ll be alright.

I could be down with playing Ga State to end the regular season again. When it’s in Atlanta, our fan base up there has a close game to attend and our students home for thanksgiving can attend as well. Plus we don’t have to deal with the unpredictable Boone weather in late November every other year. Marshall can have them.

When Fedora was the HC one of his staff assistants was Patrick McGee while the newspaper guy was Patrick Magee......lots of confusing moments then as well
