RE: 2021-22 NET rankings
Right now our best shot at getting two bids is UAB going on a tear, winning the conference by an astounding like 17-1 record, and processing a top 20 net, then losing in the tournament.

Personally, I think the net has Marshall criminally under-ranked.

Even with a gaudy record, I'm afraid there's too many boat anchors in conference play to achieve a top 20 NET. We only have one top 50 game left on the schedule when WVU comes to town next weekend.

If there was a year to get a multi bid-this is the one.

How funny would it be if CUSA finally gets 2 teams in that are leaving, then they make a decent run in March and then has to leave the tourney credits behind for the remaining members.

Not that it would be USM making a run but that thought has crossed my mind...either that or one team making a Sweet 16 run

La Tech still has a neutral game vs LSU that I bet we'll win. It'll be a Shreveport home crowd and our superbowl. If we win that, we'll be right in the thick of the at large convo's

I'm all for it! Lord knows we're leaving a lot behind in the WAC...

We really need Marshall or Western to get into the top 100 over these last few weeks before CUSA play starts and nobody to fall out. That would dramatically help with the inevitable cannibalism that is to come.

I agree, but that Western ranking seems criminally low, I know we probably should settle around the 110 range if we win at Ohio and at Toledo.

WKU looks like a top 100 team this year. Why is the NET showing them no respect?

I don't know about that. I would love for that to happen, but this is the kind of game were missing Crawford is going to be huge. If Tech can keep it within 10 that would probably be about the best/most realistic outcome.

LSU is really good this year. You never know, maybe Tech can pull out the upset, I hope so. I plan on being there and hope it's a good crowd.

Any UAB fans that go to the Independence Bowl please swing by the Brookshire Grocery Arena in Bossier after the bowl game and help cheer for your conference mates!

Taz Sherman is their only legit scorer. You need to limit his action and make those around him in Sean McNeil, Jalen Bridges and Isaiah Cottrell try and beat you.

Yeah I don't think any UAB fan is ever going to cheer La Tech on.

I also don't think a win over LSU will get La Tech into an at large conversation. It would be a huge feather in the cap if they went something like 16-2 in conference, but that win alone likely won't be enough unless the CPU numbers drastically improve. Santa Clara is the only other win out of conference that could even be considered reasonable at this point.

We should have a couple guys on the defensive end who can cause some problems for him. I'm expecting a hard fought, low scoring matchup, I think these teams are very similar in a lot of ways.

I can't stand Huggins, he is a pompous jerk going all the way back to his 1st HC job as Akron. But he is a master manipulator of the game. He beat UConn by playing UVA and ODU ball, first to 50 wins.

UNT falls 11 spots just for playing Sam Houston. Gotta get all obvious Quad 4 games off of the schedule. I know sometimes teams just don't turn out like you thought when you scheduled them, but SHSU was always going to be a Quad 4 game and we paid the price for scheduling it (and looking bad in the actual game).

You didn’t fall because y’all played them, you fell because y’all failed to cover the spread.

Still early, but NET rankings thru 12.14. My goal is to update this two or three times a week.

Old Dominion 240
UTSA 298

NET this early isn't real meaningful yet, but interesting that the bottom 7 are all leaving. Addition by subtraction for the new CUSA so far.

Future CUSA
New Mexico St. 84
Louisiana Tech 86
Middle Tenn. 100
Western Ky. 148
Liberty 156
UTEP 168

G5 average comps based on future conference affiliations:
MWC 114
CUSA 156
AAC 164
SBC 198
MAC 199

Average NET variance between the current and future conference affiliations.
AAC drops <39> spots

It'll be worth arguing if we win, but let's agree to disagree.

No bad losses goes a long way, and to your 16-2 conference point, I don't think anyone in our conference can be an at-large type team without going 16-2 or 15-3 in conference.
