...that's a pretty big gear-shifter from BYU to Oregon, in terms of 'strictness'... Oregon is my PAC team (most likely due to their Green/yellow scheme (close enough to us), and they have Donald Duck for a mascot, which hooked me as a UO fan since I was a kid... back when they were slap TURRIBLE...) - so, I'd love to see a big hire for the Quack, and that Nike money needs to get ponied up to achieve that... with Riley now at USC, and Kelly at UCLA (who will be 'fair-to-middlin' most seasons, if not better), California is a bit less 'wide open' recruiting-wise, so Oregon has to figure out how bad they want to be the top team (or at least amongst them) in the PAC...

From his Wikipedia page:
Quote:Sitake began his BYU playing career in 1994 prior to serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Oakland, California. After returning and redshirting in 1997, Sitake was a three-year starter at fullback for the Cougars from 1998–2000 under legendary BYU head coach LaVell Edwards. He was named BYU's Football Scholar Athlete of the Year in 1998, helped the Cougars to the first Mountain West Conference championship in 1999, and earned BYU's Impact Player of the Year in 1999. In 2000, Sitake was named team captain and BYU's most valuable running back. He completed his career amassing 373 yards rushing on 86 carries (4.3 yards per carry), and 536 yards receiving on 62 receptions for one touchdown.
Basically what you are saying doesn't apply to this guy. He's BYU through and through and understand of the nuances of that program.

That is as a player, not as a recruiter trying to get Gen Z kids to abide by Mormon rules

He's been doing it for five years now. I think he gets it. I'm not saying he wouldn't be interested in a job like Oregon but the man understands what it takes to get recruits to BYU and getting into the Big XII will only help in that regard.

Ken Niumatalolo experiences similar recruiting challenges at USNA, but he has turned down offers because he loves the culture. That's what I think HD is getting at for Sitake at BYU.

Exactly. Thanks for simplifying it.

He's a loyal alum. And while this year they got shafted on their bowl, next year they'd be looking at the AAC bowl list. His school is moving to a good conference that they should be competitive in from the jump. No reason to leave unless you got a big-time offer. Oregon may have looked at him but I never heard that there were any serious talks.
