Nippert, The Skinny
Went with 3 buds to the title game. All dressed up in our UH gear. I gotta say, I was impressed with the day. The tailgating in the commons was cool. Food and beer trucks lined up. Had the OSU Baylor game on the big screen. What was really cool that at least a dozen different tailgates invited us in for a beer and a snack. "Welcome to Cincinatti." Prevailing thoughts were you guys scare us, (nothing to lose) and, we are so glad to be getting out of this %^$# conference. Agreed.
The Nipp was awesome. Great support. I was really sick of that damn chant by the middle of the 3rd. Crowd was into it. Definitely a P5 atmosphere. Students loud, band was into it. Our coach basically said after the game said that was the atmosphere we need every game in Houston. Outside of maybe Louisville in 16, we have had nothing remotely close. Sad but true. Your community is behind you. Campus was pretty. Garage parking was a little inconvenient. Seating in the upper bowl was quite honestly a joke. Seats were literally maybe 14" wide. I go 235 and my buds are bigger. Myself and another guy finally just went to the lower bowl and slapped a 20 to the stadium guy to let us sit in a couple of handicapped seats that were not in use. Place was packed out. Bathroom facilities were high school at best. Gotta improve those.
Wont talk about the game. Your squad is salty. Ford had to pick that game to get going again. Basically a Alabama transfer carved up a pretty good G5 defense. Desmond Rider is a once in a generation QB. Would have loved to have Gunnar Keil back there, we may have had a chance.
On the way out, shook a bunch of hands. "Shock the World". "F the Establishment"
Had a great time. Looking forward to more games in the future.

Glad you had a good time. Restrooms are fine as long as you know which ones to go to. From the upper deck side you cross over to the pavilion area with concessions and new, large restrooms.
I agree the seats are small and even smaller when the place is packed.

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip.
If you ever happen to come back, They have a massive bathroom facility in the NW corner of the endzone. You just have to go down a flight of stairs. It's almost always empty, except for halftime. I don't think half the people realize it's there.

Glad you made it. Nippert’s a unique old girl. She’s a joy to behold in this era of stadia construction. When packed presents a lot of opportunities and yes, some challenges as noted.
Feels like we just got done with the remodel but the AD has been talking of adding 10-12,000 more seats, of the mostly revenue producing luxury variety. Wants to have another about sold out season or two before the demand requires the next investment.

That restroom is my go-to as well, and I sit on the East side of the stadium. I usually see a hand full of people in there, it’s as if the steps going down hide it from people.

A. I've been to Nippert a couple of times and I love it. It might be my favorite stadium.
B. I'm grateful to be going to the B12, but I've got nothing but respect for the AAC and all of UH's conference mates. I've enjoyed the competition. Even though UH is now a "P5" I want all FBS conference champs to make the playoffs.

It's my favorite, and I've been to a bunch of them now. I was a fan of the stadium, long before I was a fan of the team. It's one of a kind and a really cool place.
I always laugh when people say UC needs to leave Nippert. That would be one of the dumbest moves ever. That would be like the Cubs leaving Wrigley.

The stadium is cratered down in a pit. You can walk out behind the stadium in the upper deck and there are restrooms, concessions that are technically out of the stadium in Varsity Village.

No - but there is a pavilion area with concessions and restrooms directly behind the upper deck.
"East-side patrons with seats in Herschede-Shank Pavilion will notice the skywalks connecting O’Varsity Way to the upper deck, allowing them to bypass the main concourse and have a quick and easy route to and from their seats."

Pet Peeve: CINCINNATI Two "N"s, one "T".
I kind of "got it" the first time Cincinnati played Oklahoma and some visiting Okies got it wrong, but we literally have been playing in a conference with you guys for more than a decade. If I misspelled "Houston" with two "N"s, (ie. "Houstonn") you'd think me an illiterate dumb***...
The only reason I even bother with this is you're one of the Houston fans I actually respect and like. If it were Westhoff or RedDragon or Pesik I'd write it off as being an obvious troll. (Or an illiterate dumb***...)
Glad you had a great experience and we'll welcome you back the next time...to Cincinnati.

Being a Tulsa fan must be a real buzz-kill.
So look... I went and created a thread for the Myrtle Beach Bowl. Just...for...you. So there's no need to feel left out. Enjoy!

RE: Nippert, The Skinny
A sold out Nippert is a real pain in the ass to get around. Paired with the fact that most concessions are staffed by untrained volunteers, it makes the experience aside from the game a nightmare. Especially if it's your first time.
I would love UC to add another 10,000 seats to the place but the footprint simply cannot accommodate that many people.

It can get up to 8,500 more from a rebuilt Shank Pavilion alone.

How would they do that? It seems pretty tightly packed in there already.

On the last conference call with AD Cunningham, he said any expansion would be likely be 8,000-10,000 at best. UC does not want to commit to it just yet, they are monitoring the situation.
