Rain (?) for the game, but if it is near 70 it won't be a big problem...

Tonight the LT Bowl hosted a Jeopardy type event between EMU and Liberty University. Supposedly in some kind of protest over playing in a "small bowl" against a "poor opponent", Liberty sent only about 30 players and coaches to the event, and all the players were from their Scout team. Of course the entire EMU program turned out to root their team on to victory in the event.

As they should! We all know that typically a 7-5 team with no impressive wins, who get blown out in their last three games when they play tough competition, usually end up in a NY6 game!

How Liberty was overlooked will go down as one of the greatest outrages of our time!

If Liberty is going to mail it in, I'm betting on good ole Eastern Michigan University.... 02-13-banana

Depending on when this big cold front comes through, it could be in the 50s at kickoff.

Mobile weather is crazy. It could be 75 Saturday morning then 55 when you get to stadium.

Pack everything. Safe travels!

Liberty is 8.5 point favorite. All our bowl games have been very tight contests. Take EMU and the points.

This Jeopardy thing seems to have some legs with the EMU players. I've seen a few tweets similar to this. It's one thing to listen to your coach preach about a strong team culture. It's a whole other thing to experience what it means first-hand.

Donating Tickets:
This is the first bowl game of the CC-era that I am missing (stupid sister visiting for the holidays! :) ). But you can buy tix and ask that they be used to defray the cost for the team, band, or cheer team. Talk to Ben in the ticket office: 734-487-0378

With Covid infection rates skyrocketing across the country, am I the only one that is happy that EMU is playing THIS Saturday and not say at the QL Bowl?

I wonder if some bowl games will get cancelled.

I think that was a REALLY bad look for the Flamers and a GREAT look for us. I'd be embarrassed if I was Liberty. Once again another example of the program CC has built with guys who love to compete at anything. Also, I believe bowl committees look at things like this. Great job by our guys and it's awesome to see them enjoying the experience.

The weather forecast in Mobile seems to be improving. forecast about 36 hours out is for temps around 70 and a roughly 33% chance of precip (which can be things like showers or drizzle, nothing major).

It will be humid (90%) so the guys better be prepared... Kind of like a humid Sept. evening in 48197.

Tonight’s bowl activities:

The Mardi Gras Parade rolls at 6:30pm. (Fun fact Mardi Gras started in Mobile) I’d watch it in front of the Hampton Inn hotel, Battle House hotel or in Bienville Square. It will feature floats from 20 mystic societies, local high school marching bands and the bowl teams’ bands and cheerleaders.

The Pep Rally follows at 7:30 p.m. with marching band and cheerleaders. It will be at the corner of Jackson St and Dauphin St - right outside Heroes Sports Bar / Cathedral Square.

After the parade just walk straight down Dauphin Street and you’ll run into the pep rally.

Steve you’re right. It’s looking better. Scattered rain instead of steady rain. Plus warm.

From the athletic about potential lions draft targets in bowl games:

Alvinoski LaFleur, S, Eastern Michigan
LendingTree Bowl vs. Liberty, Dec. 18

A little local flair for you. LaFleur and his EMU teammates face the task of trying to defend Willis and that Liberty offense during one of the bowl season’s first games. We’re probably talking late Day 3/UDFA territory for LaFleur, but he has some potential as a Jalen Elliott-type contributor — reliable on special teams, depth free safety, maybe a bit of interchangeability to play in the box.

Our game gets a TV break. The NFL game (Raiders/Browns) is being moved to Monday because of Covid.

Our band is practicing (at the LT Bowl) for when Howard comes to The Factory September 2023,

This song is very popular with HBCUs. Heard it at a Howard game. Think I have a video. Maybe try to post it on Twitter.

EDIT: This is the Howard band:

I’d use Haberdasher as main bar at night. Day drink at Loda Bier Garten
Lots of fun bars in that area. Get lunch at Wintzells.

Downtown Nightlife - Mobile allows drinks to be carried around downtown but must be put in plastic cup bars give out at front door

Dauphin Street downtown has tons of bars - something for everyone. All bars are easy and safe walking distance from all downtown hotels
A few I suggest (starting by the river and heading west down Dauphin St)
Veets - across from Riverview Plaza. Hole-in-the wall bar with great live music. Doesn't get going until after 9pm. Older crowd
Loda Bier Garten (I'd start here then bar crawl. Hundreds of beers on tap)
Haberdasher - great drinks, nice crowd
Battle House hotel piano bar
Alchemy Tavern - cool older bar right across the street from Loda
Pat's - beer specials and fun for fans
Post - very good drinks
O'Daly's Irish Pub - college crowd (actually three bars connected. live music or dj and drink specials)
The Garage
Moe's BBQ - get a bushwhacker

Moe's BBQ is the last bar on Dauphin Street. You don't want to walk any further than that.

Breweries:
Braided River Brewing - best beer IMO
Old Majestic - best atmosphere good beer

I’d like to get a prosTITute on Dolphin Street.

Watching the social media videos of EMU down there is awesome. shout out to our content team. Liberty does not have the excitement and content we are putting out. I do believe this goes a long way for bowl committees who.want to pick a team that will be a value add. Could be valuable if we were to be a 6-6 team in the future.

I digress....

It's been fun watching it and I wish this team the best this evening. Let's get the W!
