RE: WAC MBB Week #5
Thanks for the time and effort you put in doing this week preview every week NMSUPistolPete. You are awesome.
Games I'm intrigued by this week outside of NMSU matchups
Utah Valley at Southern Utah. After a rough start, SUU playing well lately
Seattle at UNLV, who is struggling with 3 straight losses after a decent start
UVU at Wyoming as the Cowboys are currently 8-0. UVU is looking to avenge a 5 point home loss to Wyo last season.
Grand Canyon looking to stick to a PAC 12 team is exciting.
Chicago State hosting a so so Missouri Valley team (Illinois State is 4-5 and just lost to 1-6 Jackson State) is a good chance to impress would be conferences.
Liberty and SFA should be a good matchup as well.

RE: WAC MBB Week #5
Lots of good and winnable games for the WAC this week. UNM, North Dakota, SUU, UNLV, UTSA Loyola, Drexel and Denver are all games that will be challenging but can definitely be winnable. These are the teams I really want to see the WAC win against this week. ASU, Liberty and Wyoming could be tall orders but definitely winnable if our teams play good.
What we definitely have to avoid at all costs is losses to the likes of A&M CC, Dallas Christian and..Jesus…SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD?! Is Tarleton playing the local church rec center teams now?!

The SWAG ain't no joke! And everybody in Texas plays Dallas Christian. Perfect game for our bench to get in some work, but I'm guessing they won't.

Lots of schools in Texas play DCC, but only one of them happens to be D1.

Come on, man. Corpus, DCC, SWAG. One of those is not like the others. I realize our loss to Corpus last week didn't help the WAC any, but they've been to the NCAA tournament and have beaten ACU, SFA, and SHSU many times in the past.
All of which is to get you prepared to accept what might happen again this week. Our guys will be looking for payback but no guarantees about finding it.

No problem with me posting WAC basketball schedules, background info, etc. It's just what I do. I'm kinda basketball crazy that way.

I realize CC isn’t like the others. The also beat UTSA and that’s why I say games against UTSA need to be treated as must-wins. Doesn’t change the fact that it’s a game the WAC needs to win if we want our conference rating to go up. And I’m not bagging on any one school, except Tarleton and that’s just for IlliterateTexan. NMSU dropped a game to UNM a couple of weeks ago. And while UNM is a MWC school they had a terrible ranking and it was a bad loss for the WAC. The problem is that there is games the WAC should be expected to win. And CC is a game that’s one of them.

I am looking forward to our match up with Drexel. They beat us by 3 in OT two years ago. I think we are a different team mentally and I hope that we don't let the game got to OT to begin with. This will be a tough game, but agree it is winnable if we stay focused. We need to come out strong and hassle them the whole time. Actually, I see a lot of intriguing matchups this week.

UTRGV - look out!
While it is not until Week #6, the team you play on the 14th, previously winless Texas Southern, just knocked off Ranked Florida in Gainesville by 15.
For your and NAU's sake, beat them.

very good game indeed, just able to start watching at a little over 6 minutes left and watched the lead by NMSU slip away. Now 63-62 UNM with just over 3 minutes.

RE: WAC MBB Week #5
Looks like a highly entertaining game. Even in a rivalry game I don't like the way the things were after the horn. Their student section losers aren't worth having an incident over.
I was not able to watch or listen unfortunately, so I'm going to have to see if I can find the replay.
With UNM's low NET ranking, it won't count for much, but at least does help equalize taking the bad loss to them. NET doesn't care about rivalries.
