I'm excited for a bowl game again now that we don't have Rod Carey leading our program anymore. He had us completely unprepared in bowls.

For those that aren't familiar. Our current head coach, Thomas Hammock, is an alumnus of NIU. He played RB in the early 2000s and had two 1,000+ yard rushing seasons but had to retire due to medical issues. He came to NIU from the Baltimore Ravens where he was the RB coach for five seasons.

They actually travel to Florida fairly well especially compared to their home attendance.

Back to the match up. Given our bend but don't break defense, (putting it nicely) I'm happy that we drew a running team. Coastal is top 40 in run defense. NIU is basically 6'5 310 across the line though so it may be a struggle stopping them.

NIU has been the underdog all season because of the youth, but it hasn’t stopped us from racking up 9 wins and becoming the MAC Champs. We are very well coached. Please overlook us so we can hang that L over your heads. Go Huskies!!!

Coastal played the underdog with a chip on the shoulder last year but haven’t had the same intensity this season. I’d like to say that our team won’t overlook y’all but I’m a little concerned that we could. We have been favored in all of our games but lost a more or less good game vs App and we’re upset by Georgia State and nearly lost a few others. In last years Cure Bowl vs Liberty we basically took the first quarter off and finally dialed in the second quarter.

We have a lot of experience but undersized on the lines. We have a really fun offense, our starting QB missed a couple of games, returned but doesn’t seem to be 100%. True dual threat QBs are our kryptonite.

I cringed when I saw the start of this thread and cringed even more seeing it from a Coastal fan...NIU is a good draw and they won their league. I think most CCU fans are thrilled. We get another shot at the Cure Bowl!

Let us know when Costal wins as many games as NIU over a ten year period and let me know when Coastal Carolina goes to the Orange Bowl!
