McMillian got robbed. He's a 1st teamer, for sure.

Tied for 1st in the nation in INT's, with 5 on the year.
2nd in the nation in Passes Defended, with 15.

They are both great. The UC corners are just otherworldly. It's not a knock on McMillian or Jones.

Sauce has literally never had a touchdown thrown against him in his entire career. He never gets thrown at so he doesn't have the counting stats (still managed 3 ints because his instincts are incredible), but still voted him DPOY because every coach in this conference and writer that covers it understands how much he takes away from them every time they have tot take the field.

Then opposite him is a second NFL corner who is one of 3 finalists for the Thorpe Award (best DB in the country).

Neither Jones nor McMillian were screwed. It's just a loaded field with two guys at UC every coach in this conference and writer that covers it understands how incredible they are.

Eh I love Ja'Quan McMillian but he didn't do himself any favors in the last game and the Cincy corners deserved it. Ja'Quan's still a sophomore he's got time to earn that first-team all conference spot.

To be clear, I wasn't saying Jones was screwed. Just clarifying that others had similar stats leading the country and also weren't 1st team.

I actually didn't think you were, but wanted to comment on both because I think both in a normal year would be worthy of first team all conference.

to be fair jones is also other-worldly

jones is tied for the nations lead in int, and top 5 in passed defended...and he DIDNT play the 1st 3 games on defense... he was a WR and RB early in the season in an attempt to boost the hype around him... charles woodson-esque

not even including his legendary returning numbers.. 1 more return td and he will hold the record for most returns tds in ncaa history

Which is why he made the conference first team as Return Specialist and was named Special Teams Player of the Year, and was 2nd team as a DB behind the two Cincinnati guys who Mark so eloquently described.

I think Gardner is one of the best players in college football. I am blown away every time I see him play. It doesn’t surprise me at all that he is the DPOY for the conference.

I didn't realize Jones is only 5'8 185. Is he going to shadow Alec Pierce? Didn't work out to well for McMillan last week and he's of similar size to Jones.

Pierce lit McMillan up a few times last week (and McMillan is a big time corner). That's the crazy thing about Sauce. last I checked he still hadn't give up 100 TOTAL yards over the course of the season (maybe that has changed). Teams can't even throw his direction. I've never watched anything like him from a CB perspective. He's made some great plays on instinct coming off his man at the perfect time, but basically never gets beat. Just an absurd season/career.

As Mark already said, no one even throws at Gardner. Meaning his numbers won't look at that great unless you look at them more closely.

The only thing you really need to do is look at NFL mock drafts. See where the NFL insiders value them and the answer will be clear. Both are great players, but Gardner is special IMO.
