RE: Coaching Change: Kelley leaving ND for LSU
Would seem to me that a guy who has problems winning big games wouldn’t want to be in a division with Alabama and soon Oklahoma. Maybe he’s just looking at the fact that each of LSU’s last 3 coaches have won national Championships. He’s probably at least as good as 2 of those 3.

I think most of us can check the box for "didn't see that one coming". Probably a good hire but not the kind of "splash" many of the LSU fans were hoping for.

LOL...I hadn't even thought that far ahead yet but would seem like a certain level of continuity or symmetry to that move.

Kelly didn’t tell any of his staff about him leaving. One of them had just left a recruit’s house when they saw on Twitter. Said he felt like a jack*** for telling the recruit what he did after seeing the news.

So what's going on here? Why is there all of the sudden a ton of shuffling? I suppose they got some Midwest Success from the Joe Bro's so now they want more?

My best guess for next events is Cristobal or Kiffin to Miami.

He ain’t the first, and he certainly won’t be the last . . . Ultimately, most of them are lookin’ out for Number 1.

Moorhead has already been linked to the Akron opening so Cristobal moving on would not surprise me at all

Wow, I always pegged ND as one of the top jobs a coach could land.

I think coaches and universities need to band together and do something about ESD. Still have football left to play and programs are being torn apart before conference championship games are even played. There's staff changes right at the top four of the CFP. Not good for the sport or student athletes.

Early signing day has been a boon for the G5, I believe. Maybe move it up to November?

That was my first thought when I heard this news. Last coach to get Cincy to an undefeated regular season (non-Covid year) was Brian Kelly.

Sounds about right. Didn't he do the same to Cincinnati before leaving them to be slaughtered by Florida?

Yeah, this doesn't seem like the big win that LSU is going to play it up as.

There's a lot of questionable hires this year. Like, have you actually watched these guys coach? Most of the coaching changes I've seen are lateral at best. I do think Brian Kelly is a more consistent coach over Ed Orgeron, but he's not a homerun.

Nothing says amateur athletics like being paid more than most professional nfl coaches. The top of cfb has become such a disgrace.
