I think UC will still come out playing strong for the rest of the season. UCF still was playing on all cylinders even during the regular season when UCF was playing Temple and Frost having meetings in Philadelphia with the Nebraska AD.

Problem is that since the are playoff contenders and ND is much more high profile than Nebraska....the noise and leaks may be much greater.

The last two were Ed Orgeron and Les Miles. Look at their records at schools not named LSU. Brian Kelly will win a national championship at LSU

Notre Dame must also realize they have zero chance at the CFP if Kelly simply walks away right now. So Cincinnati is in the CFP if they TCB Saturday vs Houston.

We shall soon see if Fickell stays with UC through the CFP (assuming they win on Saturday) or simply takes the mega $$$ and leaves before the first CFP semi final game.

Whatever happens, UC will be fine. They may have a couple of down years like the last time this happened, but they always come back and win.

Seems like the ND search is starting off heavy with Freeman. That would be the easy continuity choice with them, and allow them to keep their recruiting class together. That would be nice for UC.

Sounds like it’s either Freeman or Fickell for UC and we get second choice. That’s a pretty good place to be with those two as your options.

Maybe Cincy does lose their coach to ND... again... hell of a place to place to be as ND's coach call up school. I would assume the coaching list looks good for Cincy if this is the next move.

sidenote: insane that LSU takes a coach from a top ten ND. Anyone over 50 is probably still unable to believe the news. Insane where college football and the SEC!SEC!SEC! is right now.

Yeah, I also gotta believe that the committee is loving this, hoping that the Bearcats will be just nervous enough to lose to UH. Anything to keep them out of the playoffs. I want my team to win, but I also want Cincy to the playoffs if they win.

My kid is friends with one of their starting offensive guards at ND...played with him in HS...and the team wants Freeman and many said the portal might get crowded if it’s not him.

If it was a horse race, I’d put $$ on Freeman. If it’s Fickell, UC hires Freeman and we are all good.

Freeman is something special. He’s Fickell’s protege since the days he recruited him to play in his position group at Ohio State.

LSU talked to him about the HC gig too since they were blown away by him when they tried to hire him as DC last year. They may have gotten the wrong guy from ND.
