East Tennessee State (124) should be a very formidable opponent Wednesday night at The Bart. The Buccaneers have the same 5-2 record as UAB (50). Their KenPom ranking puts them above 9 C-USA teams right now.

They lost their first two games but are on a five-game winning streak. Their recent wins include victories over Murray State (97) and Missouri State (62). Nobody in C-USA, outside of UAB, is ranked as high as those two teams. They beat Murray State by 8 and Missouri State by 1.

KenPom has it UAB 73 - East Tennessee State 64.

East Tennessee State is ranked even higher by the Massey Composite at 107, ranging from 71 to 146. KenPom has them going 11-7 in the Southern Conference, and 20-11 overall.

We can’t be looking past East Tennessee State to Saint Louis (91). ETSU actually has a better resume at this point.

Good game to have at home before SLU. Hopefully we can run the table for the rest of the OOC schedule. USF is actually ranked the highest of anyone we have or will play (currently) on kenpom.

ETSU is a solid program and a good one to schedule regularly. They'll challenge us for sure.

RE: East Tennessee State
I'm really glad that ETSU turned out to be a good series. They signed the deal when Forbes was still there, and I was really worried it would be a weight on UAB's rating, but this is yet another quality home matchup.

RE: East Tennessee State
In scouting ETSU’s players, I think you have to start with point guard David Sloan (6-0 180 Sr.).

In their first game this season, Sloan had 8 assists. In game 5 he had 20 points and 6 assists. He has scored the most points on the team in four of the first seven games.

He is shooting 0.917 from the charity stripe, 0.471 from two, and 0.448 from three.

I am working in the Birmingham area this week. Are tickets easy to get at the door?

Yes you can get them at the ticket office at Bartow Arena.
We are only averaging right at or just below 3k a game so should be no problem getting a ticket.

The fact we are averaging less than 3,000 is pathetic. What happened to everyone that said they would show up if we made a coaching change? I've seen a couple of them at Bartow.

What happened to "If they hired Andy Kennedy..."?

RE: East Tennessee State
I stated a couple days ago that ETSU has better resume right now than Saint Louis. What I failed to mention was their resume is better than UAB’s as well. ETSU has beaten two top-100 KenPom teams - Murray State (95) and Missouri State (62). UAB has played two top-100 KenPom teams - South Carolina (87) and San Francisco (36), losing both games.

East Tennessee State also played Tennessee (14), losing by 32 points.

I’m expecting a close game.

Has anyone heard if AK will make changes to the starting line up? I think someone said he alluded to that after the USF game due to our ongoing slow offensive starts..

You gotta asked those folks AB. But we all know interest in basketball has dwindled consistently since Mike Davis left. We're not a basketball school anymore.

I got season tickets because of Kennedy and the effort in the portal. Others need solid wins to get them interested. Running out of opportunities.

RE: East Tennessee State
Interest in college basketball has dwindled everywhere in Alabama for a couple of decades. It sucked at Alabama and Auburn too until they started winning at a national-elite level. UAB is drawing about like most schools at our competitive level. We just remember a time when it was more than that.

He mentioned it during the postgame radio interview after the USF game that he was highly considering it because of the slow starts
