I like the make-up of the schools added over the years; especially in basketball. But if NMSU wants to remain an FBS football school, going to CUSA is the logical move. At this point, WAC football has too many FCS programs who will take over a decade to be FBS ready.

That’s the Spirit !!

. . . and If for some reason, CUSA doesn’t work out, the WAC will still be there.

Glad you guys found an FBS Home. . . . Much luck in your new “Digs.”

I think nmsu and Sam jumped the gun. We don't even know what FBS will look like over the coming months. Only two ways it can go, really, either splitting FBS, or create a new division. In other words, Elite/Power FBS and a FBS Lite, or add a Division IV. Whatever is chosen, FBS and FCS as we know it today no longer exist.

No one jumped the gun. Tarleton desperately wanted into CUSA and the conference didn’t want them. The Junior Aggies missed the FBS boat. Chin up, though. You are still “D1” or at least you will be in a few years.

Tarleton was approached by CUSA. That's how it works. But who cares, I'm just SO glad cooler heads prevailed and we didn't end up in that far flung misfit league. FIorida International vs New Mexico Lite is about as laughable as it gets! The whole thing just reeks of desperation. Really could have used that automatic "W" in football every year against nmsu though.

The new CUSA is going to be one of the top mid-major basketball conferences in the nation. It's going to be better then the WAC. That's for sure.

“ Tarleton was approached by CUSA. That's how it works.” What does that even mean? Typical nonsense/gibberish from IlliterateTexan. You will never be FBS. The last train left the station and you weren’t in it.

When Tarleton was being considered all we heard about was how Tarleton was calling the shots and they were FBS bound, blah, blah, blah. Then they don’t get picked and all of a sudden they didn’t wanna go anyway. But I love the fantasy world you live in. We have plenty of experience of getting left behind in the conference realignment shuffle. So I get that you’re in coping mode and the only positive in your life right now is trying to bag on NMSU.

Tarleton is in a unique position as we're still in transition.. We have a few years to sit back and evaluate how everything plays out. Tarleton wants and will get FBS, still investing heavily toward that endeavor. Yeah, we tested the water with CUSA when the opportnity presented itself, but if FBS "right now" means leaving the travel-friendly and financially healthy WAC for the shaky skeleton that remains of CUSA, we made the right choice by staying put. Be honest with yourself, you're only going to CUSA because UTEP needed a travel partner and there was absolutely NOBODY left for them to choose from. Perpetually homeless, nmsu fell in love with the first hand that pet it. So now you're eloping with Sam Houston and their HS stadium with 3k fanbase that couldn't even pass a LONG overdue fee increase to help get facilities up to FBS level. Bad optics all around CUSA, and the WAC keeps winning with Tarleton making all the right moves. Wouldn't be surprised if we see nmsu begging to come back with its tail tucked in a year or so. The WAC going FBS (or the new version of it) is not dead.

There was no decision to make because CUSA never offered a spot to Tarleton. That’s a fact. Another fact is the WAC has no shot at FBS with NMSU and SHSU gone. You don’t have options.

As far as I know, public offers aren't made until both sides are privately in agreement that its a done deal. Name the last time a public offer was announced, and then rejected. Stupid. And why would the absolute WORST deadweight program in the history of FBS prevent Tarleton or the WAC from doing anything? Also stupid. Listen kiddo, "facts" are not spouting off your little one-liner opinions like a tweenie girl. Grow up, get out of mommy's basement, and do yourself a favor by reading up on the Knight Commission or the upcoming NCAA constitution rewrite. Go get a clue about what's going on around you before you start blabbering about "facts" and all your other douchebaggery.

Last public offer I remember that fell through after announced was Tennesse I believe offered the guy that is at Rutgers now and that fell through because of backlash from the boosters over something that happened with him sometime before.

So you know you were offered by CUSA and you know you all said no? That’s 100% your opinion. No one, no article, no poster, no rumor ever said Tarleton was offered and turned it down. All the talking heads said Tarleton was doing all the asking, not CUSA. Keep trying to save face.

So I’m making things up? Everything i’ve said has something to back it up. Everything you’ve said is just your stupid opinion. And we all know how stupid that is. Tarleton calling the shots. Several talking heads said that clearly wasn’t true. Mario Moccia said the TX schools were not working together.

Ahhh, the "talking heads" said it so it must be true! LOL. Wow. Like I said, go get some facts and then talk to me. Or keep relying on your talking heads and popping off like a moron. No sh*ts given.

RE: Jerry Kill next NMSU coach?
Opinion: Tarleton controls the WAC.

Opinion: Tarleton was considered for C-USA but said not now.

Fact: NMSU and SHSU were offered to join C-USA.

Fact: NMSU and SHSU accepted offer to join C-USA.

Fact: At no time was Tarleton(D2 Transition School) offered to join C-USA.

Fact: This Thread is closed now.
