How did JMU leadership vote for the treatment of the last member who left the CAA?

How did ODU vote for the treatment of members who left before them? How many times are you going to post this? How many times are you going to tell JMU fans to stop crying because of the way JMU's former president voted and then go on to cry about Heinicke and the football team despite the way ODU's president voted?

Until you stop whining about it. Take your medicine and be quiet.

There’s no reason for them to be quiet. It’s a stupid antiquated rule that punishes the student athlete. They are aware they voted for it previously. Doesn’t make it any less terrible

That's pretty close to what the non-football schools did. VCU announced right at the end if the year and I think got to play everything. Gmu also announced in the spring and did lose a shot at a couple post season tournaments, but had like a .250 winning percentage in those sports.

My desire to start a "CAA - Sucks" chant at the UVA basketball game does not rest on the recent CAA ruling about championships.

I just hate the CAA all the way back to Tommy Yeager

Maybe what Gill and Bourne are pleading is that as is, JMU would have an 18 month ban on championships as opposed to just 12.

But if we are officially SB next fall, and can get a championship in anything but football, that would be a 9 month ban

It was petty then, and it's petty now.

No worries though. You'll more then make up the revenue playing P5 teams as opposed to Ellen and Stony Creek.

Definitely agree. If you ask most JMU fans, they aren't angry about the revenue lost or the fan impact as much as they are for the athletes. And the pettiness... so much of that. Yes, yes, JMU voted on it in the past. It was a garbage rule then and it still is. If JMU deserves it, then ODU and every single school that has left and voted for it deserves it too. That's a really weak argument.
To be fair, some JMU athletes had to deal with a Covid year without sports or ended early, a year without fans, and now a year without a postseason. That's pretty rough. If this was the only year that was abnormal I don't think we would have been as outspoken about it as we have.
So now its just time for our teams to scorch the CAA earth and lay waste to every last one of them (maybe be a little nice to Hofstra and CofC as they were actually in support). I don't expect the logos to go away as our admin is taking the high road, but I really wish they wouldn't. Once we are gone, I don't expect JMU to be reaching out to any CAA schools for quite a while.
I also agree that we are moving to a MUCH better place and I am so happy and thankful that we are.
Lastly, I do have to thank ODU for being so supportive of us moving up. They didn't have to appear at our hearing in front of the General Assembly and it spoke volumes. Looking forward to renewing the rivalry.

When the Hokies came to Richmond, the mascots held a Metro poster at center court to the raucous boos of the crowd, then ripped it up to their cheers. And while the Metro did them dirty, they also didn't ban them from conference tournaments or TV opportunities.

So I suggest that JMU should scrawl "sux" under all their CAA logos.

As I recall, the Metro didn’t leave anyone behind. It just dissolved itself without VCU or VT being offered a home in the new conference that was being formed. Technically it wouldn’t have mattered if VCU or VT took down all of the signage since the conference was technically dissolving. Personally I never understood not bringing VCU along with us. VT I can understand since they were not willing to put their football team in CUSA
