Thanks Dan. Nice to get this done before spring football starts.
they both seem like rising stars. looking forward to tracking who replaces each of them in a couple years when they move onto bigger and better things
An optimist. I've never been a fan of this logic: "He was a really good coach, but we can replace him with another equally good one" (as if hiring coaches were like buying a new car or some easily evaluated commodity).
And, of course, that has been EMU's downfall. Too often very successful coaches have been replaced by less successful. Ben Braun and Tori Verdi are classic examples.
In WBB Verdi/Finley/Thibault was an incredibly talented trio. We haven't come close since.

I look at assistant football coaches like recruits - you want to recruit the best and the brightest to come to your program. CC has a proven track record of being a place young coaches can come, learn a bit, and move up to bigger and better things in the industry. that track record means that better coaches will want to work for him. it creates a cycle of success.

I would disagree with this tweet hard. the best coaching staff ever was 1983 Iowa:
Bill Snyder - OC
Barry Alvarez - LB
Kirk Ferentz - OL
Bob Stoops - GA
Dan McCarney - DL
4 of those guys are straight up synonymous with P5 programs and mccarney had a nice career at ISU

per the scoop:
Eastern Michigan: Per source, Richard Hageman has joined the EMU staff as a defensive analyst. Hageman previously served in quality control roles at Wyoming (2019) and NIU (2017-18).

The top echelon of the MAC just added another school at the top. WMUs coach feels he went to WMU because he can win the league each year. Hopefully that comes back to bite him.
“When I would talk to coach Izzo about jobs, he would always say, ‘Go to a job where you feel like you can win the league every year.’ This is the place.”

I'm confused did he sign on with Akron, Kent, Ohio, Toledo, Duke, Kansas, Gonzaga, etc. or with WMU?

After 19 freaking years as an assistant at a now down-trending program, you finally get a HC offer at a D1 program. This is indeed his place!
