Yep, and that's what people don't seem to understand.

There is this idea that under single payer you would keep getting the same health care you do now, it just wouldn't cost anything. That's not how single payer works.

I don't really mind being prioritized as long as the criteria are legitimate differentiators. If it was simply because of my skin color I'd have a big issue with it.

Edit: I realize those are really two separate issues so yes, I too would resent being prioritized lower than someone else based solely on skin color, race, ethnicity etc.

I get that there should be no consideration given to race or ethnicity with those being the sole criteria for preferential treatment so I'll walk back my comments to owl some.

Not if that "need" was based solely on their race, which is the topic of this thread. That is the definition of racism.

There's a lot that goes into determining "greater need".

Do you factor in how many people at home in my family I'm providing for? What if I'm also the primary care giver for my elderly parents?

Why let the government make decisions rationing health care when I should be able to hire my own doctor as needed?

I'm not sure how many more times I can say it, I am in agreement. IF race or ethnicity or whatever is considered over genuine need then it's wrong, it's racism plain and simple.

Seems to me that there is little distinction between deaths rates in different countries based on the dominant ethnic group. The only outlier appears to be Asians, which are faring far better overall.

This is because the virus was engineered to attack type A blood bearers. Most Asians are type B. O is more impacted than B, but not as much as A. Accident? I don't believe in manufactured accidents.

In medicine the only legitimate reasons for denying treatment are (1) you don't need it, (2) you are not sick enough and the facility is having to triage.

No...they are both "High risk."

Just like:

1. 88 year old white male with cancer
2. 22 year old Asian woman, no health issues.

The 88 white dude gets priority.

It's not sexism that the dude gets it ahead of the chick. Nor is it racism.
