We don't often play MAC schools so I'm interested in the opportunity, even if the MAC isn't exciting on the surface.

If Liberty ends up against EMU get the Liberty Emu commercials and memes going.

As fun as I think it would be, Missouri State is an emphatic no to C*USA.
Does Missouri St. just not have the will to move up to FBS?

Missouri State is in a really good situation. They compete in both the MVC and the MVFC. That's a solid mid-major basketball conference and the top FCS conference. They won't jump unless it is 100% beneficial in both sports. Their fans have a proximity rivalry with Arkansas State. If the SBC didn't get one of the three CUSA teams MSU would be joining the SBC because they view stAte as a key rival. They could be waiting on a SBC-E split or the SBC going full 16 all-sports teams.

Which is better?

9 Teams - Football can play a full 8 game round robin conference schedule. Basketball can play home/away with all conference schools for a 16 game conference schedule. Other olympic sports should be able to play all others that field teams.

12 Teams - Split into two divisions. In basketball play all 5 teams in your own division home/away and play all the teams in the opposite division once for a 16 game schedule. In football play all five teams from your division and three from the opposite division for an 8 game schedule. That way you play all the teams in the opposite division every two years.

These seem to be the best numbers for a conference. I prefer 12.

I prefer 12. It makes the football championship less likely to be a rematch instead of a guaranty. It keeps a lot of intimacy for the non-football sports without being too spread out.

I would avoid divisions in sports other than football. Almost every other conference doesn't do divisions in basketball and other sports. While I think it is smart to schedule nearby schools in these sports, I don't think the postseason should be built on the finish of each division.

I think Gumbart would do well as the commish for C-USA. His out-the-box thinking would be every helpful for this version of C-USA.

Question. Why haven't the presidents fired Judy? As of right now, she will be leading the charge in negotiations.

Honestly, I don't know why C-USA hasn't fired her. She must be doing something they like or they just don't pay attention. I see fans complain all the time but I am not familiar enough to know what she's been doing (or not doing) that has been so bad.

I’m a new set of eyeballs to this whole CUSA issue. I try to look at the big picture and see who is really to blame. Judy was given a turd sandwich and hasn’t done as bad as the fans make it out. Fans complain about the realignment choices for CUSA 3.0 (chasing markets). That wasn’t her making that choice it was the commissioner before her. The tv contract was her but it was as soon as she started and the previous regime burned the ESPN bridge to a crisp. She pieced together what she could to minimize the revenue loss as much as possible. Then moving to this wave of realignment. She was dealt a major blow with 9 members leaving. She swayed MTSU into staying which forced WKU to stay. Then the additions of SHSU, NMSU, JSU and Liberty were about as good as you could have possibly asked for.

I don’t think she is amazing but I’m holding judgment for this new tv contract. If they stay away from ESPN then I’ll be disappointed. Overall she hasn’t done as bad as I think others feel she has. She has an opportunity to show she is capable with these changes in realignment and so far she has done well. Time will tell.

Probably Florida Gulf Coast as a travel partner for FIU. I'd expect them to improve their basketball program to bring up the conference. I know FGCU has been in a slump lately but I think it's temporary.

That’s a great selection and you gave an excellent reason. Plus it would be a fantastic destination for visiting fans. It would also be an opportunity for the visiting team to knock out two south Florida road games at once, i.e. @FIU on thu. and @FGCU on sat.
