Nope. Spiker has been giving non starters a lot of run. So Spiker is doing appropriately.

Shouldn't ata had more playing time? He is supposed to be a good shooter unless this is a sign he will be more used next season.

Final 103-74. Only 2 turnovers. We took 33 3's. Cam limited to 24 minutes, Butler 22, everyone else 20 minutes or fewer. 10 guys played double digit minutes, with 1 more at 9

Friday is when the real season starts. Also it will be interesting to see us vs a tall/strong team.

Not many takeaways I imagine. Hopefully we got some game speed practice in and got some practice shooting, in the least. Martin showed some good promise for helping out this season.

RE: Game #1: Neumann
Attendance was 1,846, which is about what was expected. Bleachers on both sides were completely packed for the men's game, which is a good sign that the student body turned out. Lots of empty seats on the sidelines but partially because most of the fans who came for the women's game left for the men's game. I also know a lot of STH's who decided to bail on this game.

Numerous former players were in attendance, including Malik Rose, and all were wearing gold shirts with the name and number 24 honoring former player and current Neumann coach Rullo.

The banner ceremony had a bit of a snafu. The championship banner dropped just fine, but the list of NCAA appearances banner got stuck halfway, so that was a bit of an embarrassment for the planners on that one.

The DAC is pretty much the same as before, except for one major detail. FLOOR BASKETS. When the DAC was renovated, we were told that they could not put baskets on the floor because it would force the baseline seating to be too far back. I guess they developed newer baskets which don't go as far back. They didn't seem to be a problem or distraction behind the baselines.

As for the games themselves, but went pretty much as expected. Ladies battled a really tough Marist team to the wire, but sadly fell short due to some really poor shooting throughout.

Men got their 30 point lead in the 2nd half and just ran with it. They probably could have dominated the game even more had they chose to attack the basket the entire game, but they did take a lot of 3-point shot attempts. For Neumann, #0 Tyler Norwood dominated with 29 points and 8 3-pointers. Drexel doesn't publish a very good record book, so I don't know if it's a record, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a record or close to a record for 3 pointers by an opponent.

Too bad he can't transfer and play this season. The record book for most points in game was 118 against Bryn Athen.

I googled him to find out what was up, and I found an article where his HS coach was totally shocked that he didn't have any DI scouts following him around. He only got some DII interest. He is only 5 foot 10, so that could have played a part into it.

RE: Game #1: Neumann
So while Drexel played a respectable game against a decent DIII team and won by 29...

Did you guys see the score of JMU's game last night? They beat a really bad NAIA team, Carlow by the score of 135-40. It was also the first game at the new arena allowing full capacity, so 3,600+ showed up to watch that embarrassment of a game. Games like that should never be played, and JMU's cowardly AD should be called out for even letting a team like that on the same court, and then going out and running up the score like they did.

Total embarrassment to the JMU program.

WOW

says a lot about that group. i don't think they deserve some of the hate they've gotten from certain directions. this is cut/dry bs. the caa should nudge some of the major media outlets about what happened.

what about the well being of the student athlete that just lost a game that bad? just toughen up right? reminds me of the high school game where a team won by like 100 points and the administration apologized.

jmu fans can bow down to those of us who were in their new arena to watch a real game.

you know...the one where drexel won the caa championship.

Games like that, or Neumann just shouldnt happen. Want to do an exhibition, great do it. But once the regular season starts, play some real teams that actually impact a season.

RE: Game #1: Neumann
we're guilty too i guess. it seems like they could have managed this a bit better though. one of their starters and leading scorer played 30 minutes. no excuse for that when you're up 40 at halftime. the very end of the bench only played at most 8 minutes.

I have little doubt that the Neumann scheduling was influenced by the Jimmy Rullo factor and in bringing in MBB alumni back into the fold. Very happy to see Malik actively involved. Nice halftime interview with Rob Brooks on Flosports.

Now...let's get him inducted into the DU HOF!

Wait, are you talking about the same DU HOF that you were inducted into? Are you saying that you're in it, but not Malik Rose????

No doubt Timer, and it was a nice touch. Despite the banner snafu, it seems the entire festivities were well taken by the likes of Malik, which is great for Drexel as a whole now and the future.
