Yale as a team that lost to both St Joes and Maine. So this is definitely one we should have won going away, but a win is nice regardless.

RE: Women's Basketball 2022 Thread
Just to update the schedule and the conference on where everyone stands in the NET on the women's side, some upward movement from the initial rankings. Our OOC certainly has not been murderers row, but its nice to win games you should

CAA:
Towson- 71
Drexel- 103
Elon- 112
Northeastern- 113
Delaware- 144
Charleston- 174
JMU- 191
Hofstra- 288
W&M- 313
UNCW- 333

Schedule:
Marist (L)- 291
St Joes (W)- 171
La Salle (W)- 207
UMES (W)- 304
Nebraska (L)- 4
Fresno St (W)- 151
Dartmouth (W)- 352
Maine (W)- 270
Longwood (W)- 263
Yale (W)- 123
Delaware St- 356

Edit: With all that said current projections have Nebraska as a 7 seed (they are still undefeated). Also somehow it appears on ESPN bracketology that the CAA is not represented at all.

Where does JMU fall? Although not eligible for the AQ, they do affect the W/L records of the CAA members in good standing.

Fixed. First W&M, now JMU. I need to stop posting these things. Sheesh.

Mixed up in yesterday's game was that Keishana Washington scored her 1,000th point as a Dragon. The timing of the announcement was kind of a bummer. It happened in the 3rd quarter and was announced at the end of the 3rd quarter. However at the time of the announcement, Drexel was trailing 42-41 and had just blown their earlier 19 point lead. The game was looking like a tough one to swallow, but Keishana herself stepped up and helped pull out the victory.

Bummer, but the normal timing for announcements like this, specially for WBB with the break between quarters/periods (choose your favorite terminology). Next up, get a ball painted to present before an upcoming game.

Huge win tonight in Drexel's CAA opener at Charleston 61-60. Mariah Leonard's layup with 3.8 seconds left give Drexel the lead after their blow at 59-54 lead in the final 2 minutes. Washington was dominant once again tonight scoring 33 of Drexel's 61 points.

RE: Women's Basketball 2022 Thread
i'd like to see us play a little deeper into the bench. i think i saw kate connolly in the photo the posted on social media in charleston. hopefully she'll be back soon. it bothers me that saatman hasn't been playing. brugler is a nice player but not so good that saatman shouldn't be seeing the floor at all. i wonder what the story is there.

can't say enough about washington. she scored 33 and missed a lot of wide open looks. everyone was missing open looks though. our offense generates so many good shots and so does our defense when we get out in transition. we can score in the half court or turn you over and run. i don't think we've seen the best out of this team yet. nihill hasn't had the same impact offensively and i'm not sure that brugler is a finished product either.

We got the southern road sweep with a made shot at the buzzer to send to OT, then won in OT. Charleston will be good, UNCW won't. But it is nice to get that road sweep. UNCW seems to always beat us once a year, so I was not surprised we struggled down there. 2-0 start is the best start, even if it has not been pretty

any idea why we're not going deeper into the bench?

i believe they said we've beaten uncw something like 20 straight times...but point well taken that they always play us close. they have the type of team that gives us trouble: big, athletic, and not afraid to use it. decosta was the definition of that in the second half.

No idea, but it appears to be what we are with Amy this season. She didn't use the bench in the non-conference and it appears to be the same in conference play.

Really? Doesnt seem like it. Lots of close games and I would have swore it felt like we drop 1 to them every year or every other year. I am now going to look this up

I guess it is true. Guess its a recency bias thing or I am thinking of W&M. 20 straight now. Last loss was when I was in school in the CAA tournament prior to losing the VA3.

'20-21: both were blow outs
'19-20: We won in OT and by 2
'18-19: Won both by 12, though we pulled away with FT's late in both
'17-18: Both blow outs
'16-17: Both blow outs
'15-16: 1 blow out, 1 win by 6
'14-15: 1 blow out, 1 by 5
'13-14: both by double digits
'12-13: both blow outs
'11-12: Blow out (Only 1 game since it was prior to defections and realignment)
'10-11: Lost in the CAA tournament

Was definitely thinking of W&M and not UNCW, my bad. Based on trends looks like we should sweep W&M this season.

'20-21: 1-1 (win by 6, then blow out)
'19-20: 2-0 (1 OT)
'18-19: 2-1 (loss in 3OT), 1 win by 4
'17-18: 2-0 (1 win in OT)
'16-17: 1-1 (1 blow out and a 9 point loss)
'15-16: 2-0 (both blow outs)
'14-15: 1-1 (win by 3, loss in 2OT)
'13-14: 2-0 (both blow outs)

i feel like that coaching staff at uncw is probably on its last legs. i mentioned on the podcast last night that they rub me the wrong way for some reason. tina martin was at delaware and had the benefit of edd to beat is in caa championship games. i'm probably still salty about that.

it is still fun to have those types of rivalries/connections from the past though. i feel like the men's landscape is completely different.

Barefoot was never a great hire down there. I understood the allure of someone who had success at our level and trying to turn around a bad program, but she was never a great fit. Then she hired Tina down there and she seemingly helped them out of the basement to being at least mediocre. For the lack of success UNCW historically had, this coaching staff has done well. I dont think she is their answer though.

I have also always believed Tina was saved by EDD. She had success without her, but was on her way out before EDD arrived. Definitely never cared for her. She certainly helps build a distain in the conference that makes rivalries more fun. Not a great coach though.

I will give Tina props for her classy act by attending the WNIT Championship game at the DAC and supporting Denise.
