Back to football. Here are some keys to the game that W&M should strive for in order to pull off the upset:

1. Zero turnovers by the Tribe. At least two and preferably three or more turnovers by JMU.

2. Minimize penalties, especially the stupid unsportsmanlike ones that occur after the play is over. Let JMU be the one to make those mistakes.

3. Positive yardage on first and second downs. Get new first downs there instead of having to convert on third down. At least, keep from having numerous third and longs.

4. Hopefully Ethan Chang will be kicking only extra points...but if he attempts any field goals then he needs to make them. W&M cannot afford to leave any points on the table.

5. Be smart about when to "go for it". Sometimes the down side if you don't make it can be a game breaker.

Also, make sure you have, at least, a semi-competent passing game. If not, JMU's defense will bottle up our offense even more than Delaware's did, making us very one dimensional (again) and easy to stop.

I think the key to the game is to control both lines of scrimmage. Team speed is comparable. We need to score a lot of points to win.

One big key would be getting Donavyn Lester back on the field. Totally different running game with him in play.

Last week it was posted that he was on the two deep - but then he didn't play. This week he is not listed so that probably means he will play. It's probably just London playing mind games with the opponents (and us).

Any info on the pace of ticket sales for this game and what kind of crowd to expect? I am sure a fair amount of Dukes will be coming (although they are playing ODU at home in hoops at the same time), but was hoping that W&M fans were showing more interest than for our prior home games given the significance of the game. I just got another email about the "rivalry games" ticket package for JMU and UofR, which is nice to see but also suggests that there are a lot of tickets left.

Biggest home game in 6 years. Tickets should be flying off the site. Doesn’t look like it, so far.

It is gonna be a chilly one though, barely getting to 60 degrees.

W&M Hall parking lot says 4 hours before kickoff, but I feel like I’ve done it earlier without issue in years past. Any advice?

Revised forecast is high of 67 BUT with a kickoff at 3:30pm we will lose the sun and start heading fast towards the low of 35! Not sure why they did a 3:30pm kickoff when sunset is 4:58pm....

Maybe one factor in lower attendance totals is the bad starting times. I think 1:00 is the optimum starting time. Absolutely so, once the calendar hits November.

Yes they did but only for the Kaplan lot. This aligns all the tailgate lots.

Geez! It's football weather and will bottom out around 55 at game end. Later game times have always drawn better. They avoid youth sports. Example is Lafayette H.S. playoff game at 1:00 Saturday. Plenty of folks heading for Zable as soon as that's done.
