Happy for the current members that get to have a conference and just as much for the newcomers who now have a home.

Best of luck to all of you, unless of course you are playing FAU.

If Marshall were in their shoes, I would rather stay in a southern based conference like CUSA than the MAC.

Tough call. That ESPN deal for the MAC is enticing though.

Go get Missouri State for all sports and call it a day CUSA. If Western and Middle join the MAC, go get the Dakota schools for football only.

Where would the Dakota schools play the rest of their sports?

We get it, Marshall did not have a good experience in the MAC. Just because one school didn't, does not mean WKU will have same experience. Adding New Mexico St, Sam Houston and Jax st. does nothing for WKU. WKU would still be on an island. Not sure why still people are begging WKU to stay...All of this means Sam Houston now will be Judys best friends and the conference will center around an FCS newbie, no thanks...

I haven't seen anyone begging Western to stay....

Since most of the Western fans wetting their pants waiting on a MAC invite are basketball first fans. Three years from now after joining the western side of the MAC. Western fans might be the ones begging

We get it GUns, you dislike the MAC and you want to fish in the south. Not everyone is retired and fishes. 75% of WKUs fanbase cannot wait to leave Judy and her Texas bias. I love football but basketball is the sport I care slightly more about. WKU will never have a shot at winning College Football. Not that we have much chance in college basketball but until they take it away, Final 4 can happen at our level. These schools in CUSA do nothing for me for hoops. I know your buddy Ray is at JAx St. and you want to shake his hand again but I for one want nothing to do with any of these schools except MTSu and La. TEch...

The schools in hoops are far better in CUSA than the MAC. In basketball..

Liberty, New Mexico State, Sam Houston & Jacksonville State are officially members of Conference USA, sources told
@ActionNetworkHQ
. Official announcement expected later today. Schools will begin in league in 2023
TALK ABOUT A DEAD CONFERENCE.
The only thing good about this is UTEP now has NMSU as a conference partner a few miles up the road.

SAD,SAD, SAD

All of those teams would kick Southern Piss arse right now.

The SHSU board is about to meltdown.

If MTSU and WKU leave for the MAC, this conference map is going to look very, very strange. If this were what App had jumped to in 2012/2013, I believe everyone would've rather made a move to the CAA than join what this currently looks like.

Maybe the future state will be better? Anyone know if anymore FCS call-ups are in the works? Kennessaw State has more fan support than Georgia State and is in the same market. They would provide a rival for Jacksonville State.

Liberty and Jacksonville State just joined what will effectively be a Texas-centric conference, where every decision is viewed as if Texas is the center point.

Congrats to C-USA for not dying. But this is perplexing to say the least.

Kennesaw subsidizes 92% of their budget from student fees and other allocations. They would have to drastically cut spending somewhere else to afford the extra scholarships for football and additional women's sports to be Title IX compliant.

Having an actual conference di$tribution will help... Nice additions, and congrats to C-USA and the new members. Looking good. 04-cheers04-cheers

They would stay in the Summit. They already play in a football-only league, so the transition for NDSU and SDSU couldn't be easier.

You lost to ULM. Could easily lose to Louisiana Tech, UTEP, WKU, or MTSU. If WKU stays, I'd actually bet they run this conference in football for as long as their current staff sticks around. That offense is going to be wild with another year or two of recruiting and honing in.

Not sure how dependent Liberty is on Willis, but WKU's current offense is probably less dependent on who they have under center right now. Plus they seem to have a thing for recruiting quality quarterbacks.

Congrats to C-USA for not dying. But this is perplexing to say the least.

If WKU/MTSU stay, it's really not a bad conference.

Liberty, LA Tech, WKU are all perennially solid football programs that SHSU would be happy to share a conference with. UTEP seems to have found success.

There's good reason to be happy about the football, although I think it's certainly not ideal on footprint.

If MTSU gets it's act together in basketball, you have a really good basketball conference.

I agree with most of your points. However, MTSU/WKU are gone to the MAC (a mere announcement formality on Monday)....as a result, there really is no need to hypothetically envision how good the conference would be with them in it.

Only one of the following can be true.

1. The four additions joined with the expectation that WKU and MTSU are staying.
2. The four additions joined with the expectation that WKU and MTSU are already gone.

If it's number 2, then these 4 schools have joined a conference which (on paper) is dead without even more FCS all-sports additions that are TBD. And even THEN, they'll require a waiver from the NCAA to maintatin FBS status. If it's number 2, then they'll also be forced to assume that LA Tech, FIU, and UTEP will be on the first boat out of port.

It doesn't make sense for CUSA to add only 4 schools if they're going to lose WKU/MTSU.

Some of the new additions will definitely be in a posittion to teach a lesson to some here in C-USA, just sayin.

I believe this to be true. I don't agree with the poster saying it will be a Texas centric conference. It will be whatever the hell Liberty wants it to be.

Well, when your basketball championship is in Texas despite the geographic center of your conference being Alabama or Mississippi, it is Texas centric in thinking.

Enjoy taking Liberty's money though. It's an interesting proposition where conference members actually take cash from a member program, especially when that program is Liberty. Scandals be damned, this is about survival.

Platitudes, virtue signaling. This is why they mean nothing.

Isn't the Sun Belt basketball championship in Florida?
Does that make the Sun Belt Florida centric?

Congrats to CUSA for sticking it out and adding some good schools. I feel yall will still add a minimum of 1 up to a max of 3 FCS schools regardless if WKU and MTSU leave or not. If yall could snag the Dakota States and Missouri State that would be a solid Conference IMO.

I love Cleveland. Cleveland rocks! Real basketball venue with more than 150 fans attending works for me. Also Ford Field is very nice venue. Key is stability. Teams are not going to leave us to do all the work again for FCS call ups. I think guns has a crush on Judy. Only person on this board who takes up for her at every turn. Cannot wait to complete with New Mexico St, Sam, JAx, Liberty! All WKU Fans are excited! I don't think you are paying attention guns but carry on. Real reason you want to stay is shake hands with your buddy.

It doesn't make sense to add 4 schools in either scenario, but it does make sense to add 5 in both (or just 3 in scenario 1...clearly this didn't happen). To me this means that WKU and MTSU leaving is irrelevant to the current cusa plans as they have to be taking to at least 1 more school right now to either get to 8 full members (scenario 1) or get to 10 full members by adding another team in the east (scenario 2 -ish). Wku and mtsu are preferred, but not mandatory.

The process is still ongoing, the end game hasn't been reached yet...

I think we'll end up adding one or two more. Waiting on WKU/MTSU to make their decision. Then CUSA will decide which geographical region to expand in.

Even the 4 adds had to have WKU/MTSU approval. Are they approving teams they don't want to be in a conference with?

I truly don't think that WKU had a vote, they have accepted an invite from the MAC... Haven't seen any public statements from MTSU so can't say the same about them, but they may not have had a vote either.

LA Tech #71
Liberty #85
UTEP #143
Jacksonville St. #156
New Mexico St. #164
Sam Houston #169
FIU #298

The average is #155. It #163 if you include WKU and MTU. The MAC average was like #188.

Excited for this in Hoops for sure. Will be fun and better than the ASUN where Liberty is now. Football will be a work in progress and LU should be able to dominate for now. Very excited.

ULM which upset 2 other teams. We also beat Virginia Tech, Syracuse, beat undefeated Coastal Carolina, and stomped UAB. Liberty has 3 decent QB's waiting in the wings. Some of their personnel is still FCS....
