MAC Presidents Meeting Today
MTSU and WKU to the MAC could be close to a done deal!

Everything went well in meetings with the MAC athletic directors.

BUT, with all the realignment stuff going on in the league CUSA Conference Talk now as a CUSA Realignment specific forum as of yesterday.

Anything realignment-related should go there moving forward.

The mods made a spot to put all this realignment stuff into up top.

Aye. The meeting on Monday was a preliminary discussion and gauge of where the MAC presidents stood on adding both schools, which had unanimous support then. Today is supposed to be the official vote.

Still not sure why yall want to leave. If it all about chasing dollars and not better game play then any school that does that will end up disappointed. The SBC got it right and went after schools with quality play the money and recognition came.

The MAC is more methodical than we are used to. Doing due diligence before making decisions. Have to make sure everyone is on the same page, including on GOR/Media deal terms. I expect WKU and MTSU to be in the MAC come July 2023.

In theory they could delay entry by a couple years to:

1. Collect portions of exit fees from teams leaving in 2022 and 2023
2. Give CUSA time for their last seven the 2 years of continuous play needed to protect the league's autobid

You know what, we must really be wanted here because no one has fought this hard for the other 9 members who left. Other 9 members left, hardly anyone said a word but now its "Why in the world would WKU Leave" Who would want to stay in this mess should be the question.

I seriously doubt either side will entertain that idea. The NCAA will grant waivers if C-USA has extended the requisite number of invites to maintain FBS/NCAA autobid status. I also fully expect MTSU/WKU to pay the same exit fee as everyone else leaving, and to not try and collect fees themselves.

He's a Liberty fan. Without WKU or MTSU it doesn't make any sense for Liberty to join and maybe he wants Liberty to join a conference.

My guess would be they don’t expect some of the core programs of this conference to be around long so they are getting on the life raft now. In a vacuum this doesn’t make sense, but when you consider in two years the conference could lose LA Tech and/or UTEP, FIU, Liberty to backfill AAC, MWC, Sun Belt losses it does make sense. My assumption is they know where they fall in the pecking order of the next realignment and are playing it safe.

Agreed. His perspective is totally skewed.

I think it makes sense even before considering future realignment fallout, but once you factor in stability it becomes a no brainer.

The goal of every member of the past, present, and future C-USA is to get out of C-USA to something "better". Historically that has meant leaving WKU behind to pickup the pieces. Well no thanks, we are done cleaning up the mess.

Liberty is joining Conference USA. They wouldn't have received a public invitation if it was going to be declined.

Still not sure why yall want to leave. If it all about chasing dollars and not better game play then any school that does that will end up disappointed. The SBC got it right and went after schools with quality play the money and recognition came.

Reasons. Let's see...

1. Horrible media deal. CUSA will not rep you well unless you want to be on Facebook. LOL. (which we were for years 2015-18). The ESPN + thing is new like only a couple of years old. Stadium and CBS exists now but that could go away with a new media arrangement coming up.

2. Game time placement for us has been awful. The SEC is in our backyard and since we have been here, we have played almost exactly when Vandy, BAMA and UT have. No one is gonna come watch us play FIU over a BAMA or UT game. They just won't CUSA has offered no supportive strategy to combat that and our attendance just continued to dwindle. A G5 has to schedule around the major conferences, not go up head to head. You ain't beating the mouse. An idiot with no brains would know this. Oops, there's Judy.

3. Judy Judy Judy. She makes Wright Waters and Benson look like the SEC commish. She's been awful to the point of insanity. You'll soon see for yourself.

4. Region. It's crazy that the MAC will end up being more regionally friendly to us than CUSA now. LOL.

We were in the Sun Belt from 2001-2013. It was more regional to us but Waters was awful and Benson slightly less. They lucked up and got App st. which has been the bedrock of their success. I heavily criticized Banowski for not inviting them in 2013 when we could have. We would be stronger with just them alone not to mention Troy, ULL, and the Georgias. But were are here with a shot to take the last helicopter out of Vietnam and I say we get on the chopper. We may get grounded and be stuck but I hope this vote today finalizes this thing and gets it done.

Oh wow! He's gonna be there? I'm coming up for the game too. I know y'all are gonna stomp a mudhole in us but it would be awesome to make an anouncement at the game. Probably won't happen but that would be awesome!
