RE: CFP Ranking - common theme
This should be 4, 5, 6
Cincy
Ohio state
Oregon

Don’t care that Oregon has head2head over Ohio state. They have an absolutely inexcusable loss to a 5 loss Stanford. If they are both 1 loss at end of the season, then count head2head.

I’m not going to gripe for the G5. Will ask who have they beat?

I think the P5 use the AP poll to know which G5 teams to avoid scheduling

Oklahoma is suspect, even being undefeated. They’ve been burned adding them however many years in a row.

Cincy actually got Notre Dame on the schedule and beat them. In South Bend.

They didn't rank SMU and Houston specifically to screw Cincinnati.

Need to bring lawsuits

Either implement a real playoff system or call the championship the football invitational championship. I bet you if ND would have beaten Cinci the committee would counted Cinci has top win for ND. I don't understand why the D1 (FBS) collegiate presidents don't get this while DII & DIII relish in it year after year.

I watch a bit of college beyond UAB but, yeah, mostly agree. I posted about this Saturday. College football is not only warped in its construction but the product...there should never be 115 points scored in a football game. They call it "exciting" but I have almost the identical issue with NBA...as far as I can tell the refs are just there for window dressing.

...and they DID rank Fresno and San Diego St. in order to justify Oregon at #4... and Oregon is my PAC team, but NO WAY they should be over an undefeated Cincy (or Wake, for that matter, although they haven't had a 'signature' win yet... but undefeated nevertheless, playing in a 'P5' conference 02-13-banana), as Oregon lost to a mediocre Stanford team, and really SHOULD have lost to Fresno at home... SDSU is in there to bolster Fresno's win over them...

...on a separate note, I'm still not so sure why the Mountain West is getting so much 'love' as the 'new P6' or whatever... 01-wingedeagle

100% behind you on that. You notice those kind of differences when you're sitting at a game.

RE: CFP Ranking - common theme
The worst things about college football are on display in every UaB game:

Officiating that is awful….for both teams
Time wasted for unnecessary huddles about every 10th play
Long replay reviews because of the lousy and inconsistent camera angles
Too many reviews required
Too many times that teams call timeouts because they cannot get plays in
Commerical timeouts that are too long, and then you come out of one of those long breaks and immediately get an official huddle, followed by a timeout because a crappy team couldn’t get a play onto the field coming out of a stoppage
Then you get to third down and see a team throw a 40 yard pass of no chance of being caught, only to be bailed out by ref 30 yards on the other side of the field

It ruins the game, and it is even worse to experience in the stadium than at home.

I would so love to see that XFL kickoff system in NFL & college. Loved it and it should be required in high school at least. There can’t be a neurologist who thinks there’s enough safety for standard kickoffs.

THIS - just give the team possession at their 25 after the other team scores. It would save at LEAST 10 minutes, at the rate teams are scoring these days... case in point, 90 points were scored yesterday, thus... 15 or 16 kickoffs... say 60-70 seconds for each 'build-up' to a kick-off, and the rare 'offsides' call (yeah we got one of those yesterday 01-wingedeagle ), and the obligatory 'block in the back' penalty on at LEAST a quarter of kickoff returns, and the unfortunate injury we saw as well (obviously the main problem with kickoffs), you are talking about a good fifteen-twenty minutes that could have been shaved off the game yesterday...

Agreed. The kickoff has become almost a formality at this point.
