Nope, no one said that. Even the HCs of the MAC knew what they were in for. Jim Grobe, who at the time was Ohio's HC said "We just let the fox in the hen house".

When Marshall entered the MAC we were the only school to recruit live, by going to games, we were the only school with a designated recruiting coordinator. Everyone in the MAC just evaluated talent from tape and not see them in live game situations.
