What other school could you get to join that is near you?

If you can come up with a decent travel partner it is possible.

NDSU would definitely boost the perception of the new conference.

I think NDSU gives the conference an exciting direction.

Us Boosters are fighting them right now. President is a Texas A&M guy, loves Football, but he is resigning end of year.
AD is a Stony Brook guy, probably afraid to make a big move, but he's an outsider and will have to listen or get fired.

NDSU Football charters to every game already, and flys to Ohio, Missouri already so coming on down for football is no big deal.

NDSU wants Mountain West, but they won't take NDSU because we've already beaten their teams & their pride won't let NDSU walk in and be #1 on Day 1 , BIG 12 is the ultimate goal as our wrestling team is in it.

I have great respect for NDSU football, but i'm questioning the budget for all sports. Maybe have a travel partner in SDSU or UND but thats still a hell of a lot of $$$ that has to go to travel.

The other problem is as much as ESPN hearts NDSU, i'm not sure they'll be an option for the tv contract. ESPN is about to have 3 14 team G5 contracts, the new SEC contract and bits and bobs of everyone else. Theres no tv slots left for CUSA.

Those are some big hurdles. The AD has no power in this other than advise the Prez. And folks would have to charter to you as well. LU would do it with zero issues but could schools on a budget do it all the time? I think NDSU to the CUSA would be exciting. LU traveling to the frozen nuclear wastelands of Fargo would be neat.

no travel partner needed unless missouri state wants in.
NDSU wants to go it alone, they already dominate recruiting up here, this would atomic bomb recruiting.

NDSU basketball is decent, womens basketball improving
NDSU Softball was a powerhouse
NDSU baseball went to Ncaa's last yera
NDSU Track & Field is very dominant.

this helps all sports in my opinion, but a Football Only Invite works if needed.

ESPN loves NDSU, it'd be a shame to lose them.

Winning at the FBS level is much different than winning at the FCS level.

There are many more slow starts than rapid ones.

Marshall and App State are really the only FCS schools in the last 25 years or so that came in hot right away.

Even UCF took a good number of years to become what they are.

If you're talkin Big 12, you might need 25 years from now at best.

I think North Dakota State would have a much harder time with La Tech and Liberty than you think.

I would've loved a Texas/La. division in the south, and a north division with schools from Montana and the Dakotas.

If ndsu and SDSU and MoSU all join CUSA, CUSA will stand in the shadows of the big 12. Play well and I can see if there is a third round for big 12 expansion a fbs ndsu might be considered, but not a fcs ndsu.

You know, adding all these far-flung FCS schools runs counter to what Judy offered Aresco and the AAC merger bid.

That proposal wanted to provide better travel opportunities for its student-athletes. Just goes to show how vapid and fake that conversation point was.

If they were in CUSA this year, they would easily win the eastern division. I don't think people nationally realize how dominant they are. We lost to both Oklahoma State and NDSU by a TD and a lot of people around the program think NDSU was the better squad.

thanks John
Yea NDSU is really a System Type team, they do the fundamentals/little things at such a High Rate.
Defense is always tremendous, NDSU would rather recruit Tacklers over stats or speed/ratings guys.

I want schools that can be in the conversation for the G5 access bowl spot. Liberty and NDSU fit the bill.

I think both State Dakotas have to come to make it a viable leap and we would want SD and ND to continue their games against each other.

The Dakotas have been overlooked for far too long, They can bring value and TV eyes.

I would welcome you both and I am really rooting for you to move up!
