I think it is not a must, but if the individuals at the table have a great plan, I will support. I would guess that Liberty is leading this charge to create a better conference for themselves and continue their move up to P5

Seems like a possibility but I would rather not. One more football playing full member would be required if WKU and MTSU leave. FIU needs a travel partner, even if they don't play football.

My initial thought was that independent scheduling looks a lot more interesting than the new CUSA.
If the thought process is "LU has to be in a football conference to get into a football conference " then this is the opportunity to take that first step.
As someone indicated on the main board, this could become a Boise State-WAC situation. Become a type of Boise State-WAC team in CUSA and that sets Liberty up for the next conference realignment.

I think it is a great thing. Being in a FBS conference makes so much easier. Bowl agreements, place for all sports. I think Liberty actually helps with TV contracts and ESPN. Liberty will be the Boise St of CUSA. It will get the exposure it deserves.

I'm trying to figure out the membership. Maybe this...

LA Tech
UTEP
Jacksonville State
New Mexico State
Sam Houston State
Florida International
FB only: UMass and/or UConn
Non-FB: Arkansas Little Rock and UT Arlington

7 all sports members.
9 total for Olympic.
8 or 9 total for football.

Possibly one more FCS school.
