Stay, play and continue recruiting in a Southern Conference or got the MAC route? Missouri State would be a nice addition to this group as well. Will be interesting to see what WKU and MTSU actually do.

1. WKU
2. MTSU
3, La Tech
4. FIU
5, LIberty
6. UTEP
7. New Mexico State
8. Jacksonville State
9. Sam Houston State

Maybe add Missouri State if they are willing?

Not bad a situation. A lot of people don't realize how close Marshall was to staying in CUSA.

Quote:These are the schools I've been hearing for the past couple of days though Liberty is a little bit of a surprise. My understanding is that was still lukewarm at best.

I think it's not so shocking due to Liberty's serious ethical problems that arose recently. Joining a conference (even if bad) would bring stability to their sports programs to weather the storm. That is my only guess as to why they would want to.

That said, I think too many people are Hastily taking Liberty joining + 2 ranked FCS teams with a foreseen FBS future (like many who already bolted) = "the place to be" for a current or leaving CUSA team.

Just making CUSA survive doesn't = stay-stay-stay. For the short-run, I could see the immediate benefit, yeah. But we know WKY & MTSU weren't walking out due to a theoretical 100% chance CUSA was folding.

Now, if CUSA somehow magically took teams from the MW & MAC along with that -- then, yeah, I could Obviously see them wanting to stay. But instead, everyone's been jumping ship. I don't think anyone's thinking "OH, you got that Jerry Falwell college that's run into ethical problems coming in, along with some new FCS teams that we knew you'd Have to get to survive? Oh no, we can't leave!"

These are the best additions possible. If true nicely done.

the bottom would have been very small in both Basketball and football and a very good core group of 5 to 6 that could and would be in the top of the G5

Thanks...

Marshall & ODU, I have a feeling in a few short years a few schools will be regretting not sticking it out. Western one of those if we go with the MAC

Nah..... We want to be in an Eastern/Southern league with ODU, JMU, App, Coastal, Georgia Southern etc. That's were are alumni are, its where we recruit and its some of our oldest rivals. No regrets from us. I promise. The real decision is what will you guys will do? If you are having second thoughts, you might want to get on the horn with your AD/President before they sign the dotted line for the MAC.

Most of Marshall alumni are in Florida where we have six alumni chapters. Don't be surprise to see another Florida Alumni Chapter to be starting within a year.

Good looking conference. Now get a good commissioner.

Happy for UTEP, FIU, and the puppies. Glad to see not-Judy make the best decision she could all things considered.

I can't see the current commissioner staying, even if I think there is only so much she could do based on money and exposure differences BUT she sure didn't come off as trying to grow the conference and work for exposure and money to upgrade it.

Quite frankly we don't care. I bet SHSU would beat UNT if they played Saturday.

Still hoping for NDSU, SDSU and MoSt

I think CUSA should go for 10-12 full members to hedge against future raids.
With 12, they should seek a scheduling agreement with the big 12 and or the MWC

Technically, WKU & MTSU are still in CUSA and haven't been invited anywhere else.

That right there looks like a decent 9 school conference and with in 3 years the 2 FCS schools would be better than 75% of those that left. Basketball and football

Honestly I would rather build with these schools than join the MAC

Yeah and if you guys can get Missouri State, that would be a great travel partner for WKU and MTSU. And they bring a great history of basketball.

It isn't a bad lineup all things considered, but I will take the MAC. It doesn't solve the leadership problem, geography problem, or media problem. I hope everything works out for any current C-USA member who remains, but I still hope we get a MAC invite and accept it.

No doubt. Our Alumni base in Myrtle Beach area is huge also. And getting bigger. Wouldn't be surprised to see another one starting in that area at some point as well.

I wonder if MTSU and WKU thought they were getting out of 3 million dollar exit fee because CUSA would fold. Now that is not the case and I wonder if it changes their thinking. I'd love to have them back.

I just moved out of that area. The Myrtle Beach alumni is smaller in number of members than at least four of the Florida chapters. We have no alumni club in the nearby Wilmington area. Just sayin.

Now if you count the alumni who vacation in MB, that is a different story.

I have a feeling that a MAC affiliation for WKU may not be such a good thing long-term. Especially considering you guys typically recruit the south and its probably where the majority of your alumni are. I can tell you from experience that those October/November games in Michigan, Northern Ohio, Buffalo etc can be brutal. And I mean brutal cold. Unless you are from that area and are recruiting that area, its hard for a kid in the south to want to commit and play up north. Just saying..
