You'd be hard pressed to find many WKU fans who ripped those who left. Most have said they understood that most chose what's best for their schools.
I saw some comments from both. In reality it's about what is best for your school. The sun belt adds were also in the works for months after it was clear none of them were getting into the AAC. It's all just being announced now

I wouldn't be surprised if your school and middle were talking to the mac for awhile. This stuff doesn't happen overnight

See you in Cleveland for the Mac basket tournament. You'll enjoy it

Any CUSA Prez or AD who wasn't talking with other conferences these last few months doesn't deserve their pay. We've all known for quite some time that the downstream realignment shifts would be volatile and epic.

Still hoping the best for C-USA. LaTech has arguably been the best and most consistent program across all sports.

Never had any issues with FIU or UTEP, either.

I'm not convinced that MT won't be in a "group of 4" C-USA members.

Thanks! I hope like hell it works out best for all involved. No school deserves to be punished because CUSA is a train wreck.

Not really. It's pretty much a desperation move by MT.

We will lose significant media awareness in places where we recruit and won't play any conference road games in the south. Again, where we recruit.

Culturally, it's not a good fit. And as I pointed out previously there will only be two members that are less than a seven hour bus ride not counting wkcc. Nine of the other 10 are a 10+ hour drive all to the north. We have a lot of people associated that thinks this is a good move. I am not one of them. This is far worse of a geography match for MT than C-USA 3.0 was.

We will struggle to be competitive in football over time, because our recruiting will suffer more than it has under our geriatric staff.

the real issue is what is/are the other option(s) at this point?!

I’d love to have Tech, WKU, and muts in the belt … now isn’t that time based on how it’s shaken out to date…

none of us have a pot to piss in … geo alignment was always the end game … just like some would get left out in this version…

I am really curious now about the language in the CUSA bylaws about members, voting members, disbanding, minimum number of members to be considered viable and all the membership clause in the “tv” deal the CUSA has.

Since none of this is public (as far as I know) there is only the lines about the teams leaving are not voting in regards expansion.

Things could get really ugly here soon.

Our AD called the MW offices until they blocked our number. He sent them messages on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok, and MySpace. We're now blocked on all their social media too.

Didn't UNT AD say he's been talking to AAC for a couple of years now ?

UNT hired media consultants and strategist over 2 years ago to begin crafting the image to meet what the AAC was looking for. They have been playing “footsie” with the AAC for longer than that, but got serious about it 2 or so years ago.

My guess is that once it became obvious to the AAC realignment was coming, they started signaling what they wanted and threw out a timeline. Unfortunately the Texas and OU move sped up that timeline and so only those who started early has the real advantage.

If this followed the intended timeline of seeing a reactive move in 2025 caused by the Big12 media deal expiring, the whole expansion picture would be much clearer. Instead we got this mess we see now with the whole world seeing how the sausage is made so to speak out in the open. It is not a pretty look, but in some ways geographical realignment was coming to the G5 anyways…

That sentence about adding UCONN, NMSU, and Liberty as football only make absolutely zero sense.

Not exactly.

Unless you feel that AAC=Sun Belt=MAC is applicable.

Otherwise, it's not the same group.

Isn't he the one who said AFA, Col. St. "likely" to the AAC.

It will be more credible if these reports are backed up by others. Also heard Mac presidents meet at 5:00 Central time today.

IF, IF CUSA is down to three---- Liberty and UCONN (FB only) are not joining. UMASS FB only probably still would but you have to have EIGHT FULL TIME FBS MEMBERS. NMSU would bring number to four. So you need four.

I know but in this case what conference is going to come in and counter offer?

AAC, done.
SBC, done.

I think the Marshall to SBC thing was slowed down as the Herd had AAC, MAC, SBC even a reconstituted CUSA as options. CUSA is too weak to offer anything more at this point for WKU/MT.

What did LaTech do to the other conferences? Aren't they pretty good academically and in sport ball?

That’s the issue right there. Doesn’t seem to be anyone posting anything about the by-laws etc on how this will work. Whether it’s 5 left of 3.

I'll believe it when I hear it from WKU although it does appear to be a real possibility the MAC may invite WKU.

As a side note, MTSU appears to be lukewarm about the prospect of going to the MAC (well, their fans seem to be). I wonder if the MAC only extends an offer to WKU first and then waits on deciding on MTSU. MTSU is the only school left that would be less likely to commit long term given they have a decent chance at some other options in the next wave of movements. WKU has ZERO chance at any other conference in the future and would likely commit long term.

Then again, a couple of the MAC schools may say..."Nope...stay at 12. We're good" and then we're back on the "rebuild CUSA" train.

I think the remaining three may be in for a rude awakening over these exit fees they think they are getting.

I'm willing to bet ESPN is going to keep the payouts to schools whole.

They'll get two programs in two new states for no charge at all. ESPN picks up two programs, both with decent brands, for almost nothing. MAC gets to add new blood.

If ESPN is behind it, the decision is already made.
