Has UL considered downsizing while adding more amenities? Or are they hellbent on getting 40,000 people there, which is next to impossible to get with LSU right across the Bayou. You'd require some casual fans to choose to come to Lafayette. What would it take to get another 12,000 to make that choice?
6-1 isn't enough? Maybe USM being good again and Louisiana maintaining?
The coming renovations will reduce capacity by roughly 6500 seats. There will only be en estimated 1500 seats in the upper deck instead of 7000. We will add one section in the lower bowl to make the stadium symmetrical. Seating should be around 34000.
From the pics it appears the current upper deck is being completely replaced with a smaller deck and suites. Is this correct? Extending the short even will look very nice.
Yes that would be correct. The Cox building will be torn down and athletic department offices will be moved into the stadium as well. It will be really nice once it’s finished.
I just hope that my upper deck seats are still available for purchase after the renovations are completed. 5 seats on the 45 in the upper deck chair backs. Best section of seats in the entire stadium.
The nice thing will be moving 5000+ general admission seats down to the lower bowl. That will make 25-30K “look” much better.
As for seeing what 41,000 looks like; have to go back several years when Southern University visited. They brought a HUGE crowd … probably 15,000+.
We just need to keep this recent build moving forward and we’ll start getting the 30,000+ crowds back.
P.S. I anticipate USM bringing a nice crowd on their first conference game at Cajun Field.

Hell, if we went back to FCS, we might rise to the level of mediocrity.
We are an embarrassment of Epic proportions.
It's the not even trying to pass thing that gets to me. Spavital was supposed to be an up and coming genius on offense. I can kind of understand our defense allowing 30-40 points, if we were scoring 30-40 points per game ourselves. We are supposed to be having 300-400 yards passing per game, and now we didn't even get to 50 yards passing. Not even fifty @#$@#$@#$ yards!!!! Are we f@#$@#$ Navy! Or Georgia Southern! Both those schools would've gotten 50+ yards. Freaking ridiculous!! We'd be lucky to be a 3-4 win team in FCS at this point. I honestly wouldn't blame the rest of the SBC schools if they kicked us out of this fine conference but then again who'd be your homecoming opponent. got have one of those.

Well, it was actually closer to 29, so that would’ve been a better guess, but I’m not too shamed for my estimate, lol.
Guess I’m just from the old school, but it kills me to not be in my seat at kick-off, tip-off, first pitch, etc. It totally amazes me how many folks have no issue strolling in 4-5 minutes into the game. Yesterday was a perfect example of this. We were in our seats by 10:20 and there were precious few others at that time. But based on the amount of people outside, tailgating, etc., we knew we’d have a ‘good’ crowd once everyone settled down.
And I have not seen much posted about the pre-game parachute show…it was freaking awesome!!! We are in the UD and when they got near the field it was if we could reach out and touch them. And the one with UL flag landed SPOT ON mid field. Really great show.

Withers was a symptom, albeit a bad one . . . When you’ve been as horrid as we’ve been for as long as we’ve been, the problems run deeper than one bad Coach . . .

Yeah, I think moving those 5k down to the lower bowls will have a really big impact on the overall ‘optics’ of attendance, and that doesn’t get menti9ned enough. Instead of a 1/2 section of seats that go all the way to the sky, more butts in visible seats, and a lot less seats going to the sky.

We saw the parachute crew land from our TG spot. Count us amongst the late arrivals. I typically have my beer in hand from the lower level beer booths at kickoff and making my way to my seat in UD during the first two minutes. To each his own. But we do stay until the clock hits 0, so we got the “stay late” part of Dr. Maggard’s directive down pat.
