Marshall would performing the greatest self dunk of all time.

More travel, worse teams, worse TV, less revenue, and epicly dumping on their fans.

I can't believe this is even a conversation. Skip the SBC to hang with UTEP, NMSU, Liberty, and Sam Houston. Maybe UConn? Huh?

What a slap in the face to Marshall.

I guess the line of thinking would be they don’t have to pay exit fees and could win more easily and stack the trophy cases.

I just can’t for the life of me believe that Marshall stays in CUSA. If I’m a fan of The Herd I’m really getting annoyed with all this. Just makes no sense!

I understand wanting the new President to make the call, or at least appear like the one that made the call, but this is getting clunky as hell.

. He was asked if he believes Marshall will be in the Sun Belt Conference:

"I do believe all published reports are based on hypothetical and not the inside knowledge.......I also know there are multiple options that are viable right now."

NOT a done deal at all...

Why do they keep saying this? What do they want from the Sun Belt that the Sun Belt hasn't already done?

Seriously, the only reason they would be doing this is to extract something of value to the Sun Belt. Marshall isn't going to the MAC and they aren't staying in C-USA, the longer they wait, the more leverage they lose NOW and when they end up joining anyway down the road. People aren't going to be willing to work with them in the future if this is how they act now and Marshall's one vote will be worthless because people don't trust them.

Money. I’ve said it before, shrinking population school and a shrinking population state. Only reason they stay in Dumpster Fire USA is to collect exit/entry fees and some Liberty money. Either that, or this is a big set up to say: “We had multiple options, and chose the SBC”. Everybody in the back saying Marshall is in… if they don’t come, they will have burned some really big bridges.

Do they want to advertise their brand on ESPN to try to get more students back or do they want to play in a true Conference USA that spans from Amherst, MA to Miami, FL to El Paso, TX with the occassional game on CBSSN?

They could kill two birds with one stone by staying in C-USA. Kill their athletics programs, kill their football support, and kill any chance of recapturing that G5 branding that made Marshall instantly recognizable to anyone who paid the slightest attention to college football.

yikes.

According to CUSA “Marshall could go to the SBC and compete against schools that will challenge them, or they could be the cherry on top of a sh*t flavored ice cream sundae”.

I'm surprised Dodd didn't say it was a dumb decision for JMU to want to move to FBS when we could have continued our 'tradition rich' cakewalk through the CAA every year on our way to the playoffs.

The Sun Belt has been a most gracious host and set a feast before you and us, JMU, and SMU. What say you Marshall? The more you delay, the more we sour.
