I think we are just waiting for the president to be announced, doubt there’s is any decision left to be made. More I sit on it I wished we’d lobbied harder for 16 teams. Four pods of four teams within 2 divisions of eight teams
1N. Marshall, WKU, MTSU and Arkansas St
2N. JMU, ODU, Appy St and Coastal Carolina
1S. Georgia St, Georgia So, Troy and South Alabama
2S. UL, ULM, Texas St and SoMiss

Play three games within your pod, choose two teams within the other pod in your division to play each year as your rival, then play one team in each pod that you are not in on a rotating schedule. There would be a conference championship game each year between the two division winners.
Example conference schedule for Marshall:
WKU
MTSU
Arkansas St
Appy St (rival)
JMU (rival)
ODU (rotating game)
Troy (rotating game)
SoMiss (rotating game)

This reminds me of the App State vs Marshall game this year. Marshall was winning the game up until the 4th quarter when they decided to stop winning.

I can somewhat understand this, since this would be a “signature accomplishment” of a new president (even though he had little to do with it). I think Farrell is preparing the Marshall fan base that MU will not be making an announcement on Thursday.

I don't expect an announcement on Thursday, never did. That day is for the President. I expect the official announcement early next week. As to the 'no decision has been made', sure the FORMAL vote hasn't taken place yet, and won't until the other stuff is take care of. But everyone knows the outcome already as the informal votes have been clear. Same with the discussions going on, heck we will be talking about it long after things are official, so yeah, discussions are ongoing. :-) As to timing, I'm sure he's right...the SBC knows our timing issues and are apparently ok with it. I mean really, we aren't joining until 2023 I believe. What's an extra 10-14 days before making it official? Nothing really. Sure, we as fans want it over so we can move on, but in the grand scheme of things as long as the Sun Belt knows we are coming and knows the reasons for the delay, it's really not a huge deal I don't think.

Nope. As excited as I am for Marshall, if 16 teams had been the dealbreaker, I would’ve said to hell with Marshall. 12 teams is an old timey country church, 14 teams is a county church that’s getting too big for its britches, and 16 teams is flat out Joel Osteen level bs. No thanks.

16 teams is ridiculous. You may as well have two 8 team conferences in my opinion. 14 is hardly palatable.

I say speed up the process, release a rumor that SBC officials booked a few hotel rooms in Bowling Green, KY.

Marshall will be on ink and official within hours.

For sure, I heard UL and ULM were supporting us but we couldn’t get votes else where.
Which makes sense, because Troy moving West is so logical.

You don’t need 2/2 east and west. Gave The Belt good flexibility.
Plus App State and Coastal are driving and earned the right to get 3 new teams around them.

Most Virginia school grads are like this. JMU, UVA, VCU, Richmond, Roanoke, Williams and Mary. I find the Virginia Tech fans to be the most tolerable. I don’t have ODU figured out yet, but don’t appear to be as bad as the aforementioned schools.

I've always called it a blood clot. But let's be real about this.

I do not know of any mascot as beloved as this one. You can buy your kid "Big Red" anything...baby bottles, rattles, any kind of toys. You can hire Big Red to do your kid's birthday parties....and it does a bunch of them.

EVERYONE wishes they had a mascot that generated revenue like Big Red.
