So I just watched a press conference on Facebook. So what is this I'm watching on YouTube? All I see is a partial band and cheerleaders.

On the YouTube feed the USM President just let it slip that the ESPN Contract has been renegotiated (I think). He took a nice long pause.

The USM president mentioned a specific amount of $41M. He didn't explain where the number came from, over what span of time, or whether that included media money or just travel cost savings and other estimates.

Trying to read between the lines of the Commish being asked about TV deal with ESPN. Paraphrasing but he said that we have a deal through 2031 with ESPN but we would not have expanded beyond 10 if we did not add value, and that this was the first piece of the SBC's expansion process and he sees us getting even stronger.

Kinda signals a new-ish deal to me?

Where to find Patrick's analysis the Pres eluded to? By the way you folks a polished Pres. He's impressive.

Was he referencing Patricks analysis?

Yeah, we are looking 2.9 each with 14 if that 41 mil was correct. Sounds accurate. Would put us right at what the new AAC kids are getting at 3 but we have potentially cheaper travel costs and more primetime games.

I went back and listened again and he said it would increase the $41 million impact the sports program already has on the state.

I was kind of surprised nothing was said about the CUSA as a thank you for a home the last few years. Still very good. Really glad USM is here.

I noticed when asked about how long ago talks happened, Southern Miss AD was very careful not to say months/weeks. In a roundabout way he basically said, uhh I think we both knew we were a good fit for each other, but no real formal talks happened until really close to the end.

But then Gill walked up to the podium and said they had been talking for a few months. I think AD was trying to let CUSA save a little bit of face there or something.

In the fan segment that said that they began in July around media day when talks of OU and UT to the SEC came around.

This is exactly what resident Mod and source Chief said after Media Days. If anyone doubts the man again then they have issues. He knew quite literally before almost anyone else....which makes me wonder who he is.
