My first choice was staying in C-USA and adding App, Coastal, Louisiana and JMU or one of the GSU or Ga. State.

My second choice is exactly what we got in the SBC other than I would have preferred WKU over ODU.

I would have been happy with the AAC because of TV money and perception but otherwise, it does nothing for me. I am a traditionalist so geography and rivalries matter a LOT to me. As much as I despise App and WKU, I love the idea of being in a conference with them and having a short drive to their stadiums. Navy is always exciting but Temple and SMU, meh.

I prefer ODU because if we'd added WKU I think they would've been in the west division, no? GS would've wanted Troy to stay in the east and I can imagine stAte would've wanted WKU as another relatively close conference mate.

I will certainly miss playing GS and APP, and would have liked to have played Marshall and JMU. I guess we'll catch them in the rotation at some point. I don't know much about ODU, and I'm pretty neutral on GSU. We're not really friends with Coastal after the arrogant nonsense they pulled last season, so there's that.

I think its a pretty simple concept that a lot of fans wanted the AAC until they saw who the AAC added.

You think Marshall fans are disappointed in playing the SBC east over AAC East less ECU?

I'd like to be in a conference with ECU too, but its not worth paying entrance/exit fees and finding $10MM/year more for appearances.

Marshall's new President is Brad Smith, as in Intuit’s former CEO, executive chairman of their Board as well as chairman of Nordstrom’s Board of Directors and a sitting member of the Board of Directors of Momentive. Great hire Marshall! On th other hand App has a Chancellor who had been provost and vice president for academic affairs at Illinois State University.

The consensus appears to be that the AAC East is not desirable outside of ECU, for most of us here.

2. UNC-Charlotte - For some App fans, for some reason, sure but meh
3. ECU - Yes
4. USF - Eh, once moved the needle, maybe
5. Temple...double meh
6. UAB....meh
7. Memphis...meh

Not sure if Memphis is in the East since Navy goes West. But yeah, the point stands. The AAC has meh'd itself to death for everyone including ESPN, I believe.

Can't wait to watch Temple and UAB play on ESPN in front of 12,000 people.

Absolutely not! Matter of fact, I think the SBC did quite well for themselves and honestly would not have mind UAB being a part of the conference. The Marshall poster had something smart to say about UAB when I didn't even say anything negative about any new or current SBC program.

Fact is the AAC picked programs similar to their makeup, likewise the SBC. I or anyone else don't know how teams will perform in the future even if some folks think they are Nostradamus...lol. Best of luck to the SBC going forward because secretly I do root for the conference. There would be no UAB without the SBC.
