I think our best chance is with the Big 12, which will be at LEAST up to 12 schools from 10 (this needing more tie ins), but will also lose some leverage for tie ins against other P5's since they're losing their top brands. Basically, we're increasing in prestige, they're decreasing in prestige, and both are growing in number. They need each other.
I anticipate a Texas bowl or two, one with a MW team; tie ins all over the South with the MAC, AAC, the zombie CUSA if it survives, and independents; and hopefully a P5 bowl matchup anywhere, most likely against the Big 12.
Zombie CUSA. I like that. They should adopt it. I do hope they survive. We all need a doormat.
I absolutely agree.
I'm also not 100% sure whether the CFP, controlled by the P5, wouldn't find a way to keep for themselves CUSA's share of the revenue, rather than letting the SB/AAC/MW/MAC share it. That's why I think it might not serve the SB well for CUSA to go away.
Hopefully for MTSU’s sake we get some doormats too lol.
MTSU may well be headed to the MAC.
Also, if the Big 12 takes 1-3 more schools from the AAC, MTSU and its "booming Nashville market" may head over there.

Appreciate the quotations there, ha. MTSU claiming the "booming Nashville market" is about like Kansas claiming they have the Kansas City market.

To be fair the Boro’s population is exploding.

That's true. Hope for their sake that they can capitalize on it and gain some support. In Nashville proper they have very little presence from a support standpoint. Making Murfreesboro a true MTSU town would do them a lot of good but it's not there yet.

Yeah I doubt our leadership will capitalize on it. I’m doing my part but the rest of the fan base is burned out lol.

Dumb random thought: With ESPN owning so many bowls as well as the media rights to three of the four/five G5 conferences, could they do away with conference tie-ins entirely for the Belt, MAC and AAC on the next contracts and slot them in depending on record/fan support/matchup interest/most boxes of Junior Mints sold?

This is what I'm wondering as well. Makes a lot of sense.

I like that too but how about "ALC" (America's Launchpad Conference)?

I think there are only 4 or 5 not owned by espn (too lazy to look it up right now). I think that is the way they are leaning especially if they move to a 12 team playoff using the bowls as playoff games. Those bowls are going to come from the top tier which means that the P5 are going to be taking more of the 2nd and 3rd tier bowl games. That means that espn will have even more of a vested interest in placing teams in those bowls. I don't see the tie-ins lasting much longer other than maybe the tie-in for the hosting conference.
