CUSA Value Rankings 2017
If this has been posted somewhere else I missed it. Link was put on our 24-7 Premium Board by another App fan. It's from 2017 and although a few things have changed as far as facilities at UAB and such, a majority of the writer's points remain. Sure looks like the SB came out on top here.

I don't know how much stock i would put into that article but its been downhill for the ODU FB ever since that Bowl win. Marshall and USM i agree they are programs with history, proven success and fan bases that'll show up.

RE: CUSA Value Rankings 2017
Article is from 2017 but most all of it still holds water.

If I was starting a conference the only school I would pick out of the six that went to the AAC is UAB. The rest are as useless as can be. And well UAB is still under the Alabama BOT. Once Bill Clark moves on they can hire them the new Niel Calloway if they want.

Just by branding, the Sun Belt got the top 2 CUSA brands. And I think the lines are blurred enough that Southen Miss and Marshall are 1 and 1A, and you can't go wrong on which you put first. Also I think over time both ODU and JMU can push for a chance at the top.

The Sun Belt commissioner had to have had an evil grin on his face when the AAC announced their expansion schools.

So the SBC got CUSA Top 3 athletic programs and brands. Love it.

UAB is nothing. Everyone is forgetting this is the only time in history where they have had multiple years of success in a row. The new stadium has already worn off which was obvious with their 8-10k fans at the game to watch them lose to Rice yesterday.

They have been terrible at football and they will continue to be terrible at football. Troy is the only Alabama G5 with proven and sustained success. Troy also has the better fan base.

Let’s also add that yesterday was UAb homecoming and that the reason they couldn’t draw big crowds before was because Legion Field was a dump in a bad neighborhood. Guess that theory has already been blown up and they have only had 3 home games in the new stadium.

The crowd in that brand new stadium was pathetic. Announced at 24,845. And some of those AAC folks say we fudged the numbers last Wednesday.

South Alabama has everything in place to finally build a foundation.

Personally, I'm just ready for the Sun Belt TV Contract to be public so that the AAC program meltdown can begin.

Right now they just can't believe that the Sun Belt may have matched them in programs and money so they spout off every excuse to believe it's not true. They seem to undervalue what USM, Marshall, and the Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia markets mean to ESPN.

They're also likely in disbelief that three current Sun Belt programs are ranked or receiving votes. Now we just need everyone to continue winning until one has to lose Championship weekend. Going into 2022, that would be huge momentum.

RE: CUSA Value Rankings 2017
UAb will see a peak in interest when Memphis comes to town in basketball and football, for what UAb has to hoping is at least a couple years back in conference with them. After that, UAb attendance and interest will go back to what it has been. I still see UAb as being the biggest loser from the original CUSA to what UAb gets now. Some of it is self inflicted wounds, some by the BoT, ok, mostly by the BoT.

Now Alabama and Auburn are playing good basketball, which means even local media talks about the big two, and barely mentions UAb.

I agree with Patrick. But up until earlier this year, he was the Southern Miss beat writer for the Sun Herald. So this is his judgement of value & brand.

Just want to point out that it's worth taking with a grain of salt, even if I support his position.
