RE: Tarleton, SHSU, SFA, NO THANK YOU
The one BIG positive that could come out of this is that all the newcomers will want to be here. We've spent the last 7 years dealing with multiple schools and their fans who didn't want to be here. That in and of itself would be a breath of fresh air.

What a joke. Please somebody get us out of this dumpster fire.

Seriously, these names could only have been floated because CUSA knows MT, FIU and WKU are gone, right? And the only option is to build around LT and UTEP, right?

Please???

I personally would rather go independent.

I hope we make the announcement tomorrow!

But for some reason our president Caboni seems to be helping with the expansion search, so maybe he knows something about Dustbowl Texas International State U that we don’t………

You don’t have a clue what Caboni or Stewart are doing behind the scenes, so why pretend?

You’re right, I don’t. My apologies. I am not an insider, I’m just a fan and I’m lashing out about the current situation. I wrote that based on info I’ve read posted by other Hilltoppers on here.

Let me reiterate, I know absolutely none of the inner workings or machinations of the university or conference.

Was not trying to dump on WKU, it was very confusing to me why the TX adds until other rumors came out that made it make more sense. Because again —I have NO CLUE what is going on 03-hissyfit

FWIW, the silver lining for me in all this is that we have one of the best ADs and Administrations in G5 and we can deal with problems like this.

Surely UTC and EKU are to appease MT and WKU in the interim (although those adds are controversial with our fan bases) and safeguard the conference in case ESPN one day throws money at the MAC to take the northern CUSA teams.

I know nothing about McNeese other than we beat them for the IAA National Title back in 2002. As far as UTC...they already have a 20,000 seat football stadium and their basketball is very solid so their costs to move to FBS won't be as large. The facilities are already there.

It's cool brother. We're all scrambling for bits and pieces of info and desperate for our school to be in the best position possible. We just have to be patient. The AAC taking six from CUSA a few days ago shocked EVERYONE...which is what I believe was the tipping point for ODU and Marshall to go to the SBC. USM was going regardless what happened. It's only been a couple days. I'm sure our leaders, MT's leaders, and the other three as well as the CUSA office are working the phones and Zoom calls hard right now. We'll hear a lot more in the next few days. Also, although it's pretty much a done deal, ODU and Marshall haven't made official announcements yet to CUSA that they are leaving. Any announcements about adds to CUSA will not likely happen for a few weeks but we're all hopeful some nuggets of info will come out sooner.

That's a very strong bit of info. Chattanooga is a great destination city and would give both our schools a great chance to travel easily. At this point, the arguments made by many of us about having schools in a tight footprint to increase ticket sales, reduce travel costs, etc still rings true. A division with WKU, MTSU, EKU, and UTC would be a strong core that could develop great atmosphere and attendance. Obviously, the other division will be far but that's expected. It's very important we get NMSU with UTEP as travel partners and get someone for LaTech. It really does become a viable option. I feel for FIU but there just isn't a travel partner option for them unless we can get an Olympic sports only school in the area to join. Travel issues is really only about Olympic sports.

The Olympic sports issue for an addition for FIU id complex. I just can’t see a viable option for football only to pair with it. Maybe UMASS or UCONN but they are just so bad and far away.

For most Middle fans it depends on who the conference adds. If they leave MTSU and WKU on an island I can see a lot of fans wanting Indy/MAC to get out of the conference. If they add UT Chat and EKU I think that will die down.

I think the same would be the case with WKU fans. Some would balk at it at first but would come around. Beating the snot out of EKU was always fun back in the day!! 05-stirthepot

Chattanooga and EKU would not be ideal, but they would be better than Tarleton freaking State

A Texas St fan thumping their chest is like a Vandy fan doing the same. Be glad you’ve hitched a ride with the SBC because y’all have less going for you than most lol.

OK...since you decided to grace us with your presence, it must be noted the extreme irony of a team like Texas State that has never been mighty talking about "the mighty falling". You guys still the bottom feeders of the SBC aren't ya? I believe you guys have averaged 2 wins per year for the last seven years or so...

I’d say Chattanooga and EKU. Jacksonville St would be a good add as well. Any two of those those three would probably get the fans to settle down a bit.

I don't know about most. Maybe the people who have accepted the mediocre culture pushed by the administration. There aren't many MT fans left. Most have quit because of inexcusable decisions that have put us in this situation in the first place.

Never thought we would go backwards yet here we are.
