I know what you’re trying to do…you’re trying to back door your way into the east coast conference you people wouldn’t shut up about. If we rescued WKU and MTSU the conference would get too big and split and you’d ultimately get your wish. It’s like having sh***y annoying neighbors, moving out to get away from them, and leaving a forwarding address so they can find you and bother you some more.

Absolutely not to 16 or 18.

The only reason the SBC should ever EVER look at any more additions is if another conference comes calling for Texas State and they take the offer. In which case we’d have room for 1.

With 14 we are tied together because nobody has the 8 in either division to lead a future breakaway lol. Plus 14 is enough so that each team still sees each other every 4 years, 1 player scholarship cycle.

They made their beds, they can sleep in them.

CUSA is either going to disband or shift their focus west and become a WAC-like conference. Either way, anybody who managed to sleep through at least one marketing class could have told them this was inevitable with their model. In the long run i don't think the AAC got the memo either but whatevs.

Let the C-USA become the new FCS call-up league. Everyone knows it'll be how the SBC used to be. Teams come up, other teams leave, and then they add a few more. It would be nice if the NCAA would just allow C-USA to exist as a conference that only houses a university's football team and they could store non-football sports elsewhere.

UCONN, UMASS, Liberty, WKU, MTSU, FIU, La Tech, UTEP, and NMSU could be a 9 team conference of football teams only. Still would get to participate in post-season play with bowl ties, etc. but those teams could place their non-football sports in more geographic friendly conferences.

No, they can't. In order to be an FBS conference you must have a minimum of eight FULL TIME members that sponsor at least 14 sports.

Hence why I said that the NCAA would allow it by giving them waiver. I know they can't just do that..

At 14 schools its going to work out great since we have two easily definable divisions. We should only do 16
If the opportunity is so amazing that's impossible to pass
Up. Even then we would need schools that are clearly
definable as western and eastern. We don't need a third school in Alabama and Louisiana.

I can't imagine what that opportunity could be but I'm not the most creative thinker around. Maybe someone from the East that's too good to pass up so we invite 03-puke latech but again, I have no idea who that could be.

CUSA will approach Texas State to join their new Texas West group of UTEP, NMSU, Tarleton St, Sam Houston St and La Tech.

Texas State would win that conference. Do they consider?

No to La Tech. Third Louisiana school make no sense especially one that wouldn't bring a new market. An ECU maybe followed by maybe another Texas team (not UTEP) or a Missouri State. I dont know. All i know is that we've reached a point in which in which we clearly don't
need to expand and should only do so in case a GREAT situation falls into place.

Only way it happens at this point is if the power schools break off and take the CFP money with them.

I don’t think being at 14 was what hurt CUSA it was a combination of lack of media/exposure and never being able to establish an identity. Part of that was being too spread out, sure but the divisions in the new Sun Belt are a lot more cohesive and the admins seem a lot more cooperative. I don’t think we’ll face the issues that plagued CUSA. I see this group being together for the long haul, even if the AAC needs to reload they’re not coming for us. Rumor is ODU told them we weren’t interested this go round.

That said 14 is enough.

We could have a healthy debate on that point, but Hell to the Noooooo, we wouldn’t be interested in that shite.

Remember, I'm just playing devil's advocate here:
We as a conference are not worried about "markets". We are worried about the strength of the university's program and if it makes sense. Well, latech would bring 3 immediate major rivals right from the start and that makes people outside of the market interested. You think people aren't going to tune in when ULM, the Ragin Cajuns, or stAte plays tech? especially if the SBC continues to grow in power. Anyone associated with promoting the games will be playing those clips of Tommy Mac dissing the SBC. Furthermore, they are strong competitors in pretty much every sport. Play on the hatred of latech and everyone will tune in to hopefully watch them get beat. You want to draw from outside of our own markets? That's how you do it. Find a villain.

Now saying that, I think we will be just fine without them and don't really want them.. But make no mistake about it; latech would be a benefit to the conference and the fact that it would be a third team in Louisiana would be quite irrelevant since Louisiana per capita is the biggest recruiting hotbed in the country especially with texas next door.

Just one other thing. TXST isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Maybe to MWC as part of a group of Texas schools, but that's highly unlikely in the next 10 years maybe more. Either way you guys are stuck with us.

One thing I'd throw in here is to remember that those schools being left behind are hurting right now. Whether or not they have had actions in the past that raised the ire of their former conference members words can be hard on them. Sure, they might have been less than gracious in the past but I think I'd rather take the high road. I hope all of you will do the same. This is supposed to be about games and having fun.

LOL..I don't see that happening. Besides, you guys are so close to breaking out it would be a mistake to let you go and then you find success elsewhere. For the life of me I cannot figure out why you haven't found success already. You have the facilities. You have money. Couple of times now we thought you found the right coach. Just can't seem to get it together and it's baffling.

20 years with an incompetent AD did nothing to help the cause, and when he finally stepped down at the end of this past August, instead of doing what IDK real Universities do, and conducting a National Search to bring in the Best Candidate possible to run the Athletic Dept., we instead do an internal hire, giving the job to a guy whose only qualification(s) seems to be having watched the previous idiot run the program into the ground. 03-banghead

Optimism not running high in San Marvelous . . . . but who knows, maybe we’ll be surprised.
