IMO the AAC failed in its selections
The American should have added these programs
Louisiana, Southern Miss, Marshall, FAU, App State, Louisiana Tech, UAB, Georgia State
That would bring your conference to 16 teams and would have split the conference like this
SMU, Tulsa, Tulane, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Southern Miss, UAB
Marshall, ECU, Navy, Temple, App State, FAU, USF, Georgia State
