What is the Sun Belt's Endgame?
I was a regular poster on this board years ago, before UNT left for C-USA. And, I don't usually come over here and post. I think this is the first thread I have started on the board since leaving back in 2013. I know many on this board are not fond of UNT, but this isn't about my program and I didn't come here to argue. I am respectfully asking for insight, and thank you for any information you can offer.
I would just like to know what the Sun Belt wants to look like after they add all of their C-USA targets? Again thank you for any insight you can provide.

1. Being the best G5 conference at football is the primary goal.
2. Improve basketball
3. Be of the best mid-majors in baseball & softball.

We want to be the top G-5 conference as a short term goal. Thanks for expediting that process by joining the AAC.

RE: What is the Sun Belt's Endgame?
I'd ask the same question about the AAC. What is the endgame?

Now that the AAC is watered down, we aim to be the top group of 5 conference.

Same way Charlotte and UNT get you back to being a "P6"

You are an ECU fan so I’ll forgive your reading comprehension. Nothing was said of adding ODU and USM. Adding N Texas, Rice, Charlotte expedites the process because the hill just became a bump.

ODU and USM are medium to long term plays. To be honest, the top of the Sunbelt is at worst on par iwth the top of the new AAC currently. We need help in the middle and bringing up our low performers.
Marshall bolsters that. Jmu will be up to speed in short order, ODU is our potential play, USM fits the business model and checks a lot of boxes for the west.

Because they bring Marshall and JMU with them.

Keep doing what we are doing… develop our programs and just keep growing. Adding Marshall, S Miss, and James Madison will be huge down the road. SBC’s endgame is basically to become a legit mini-SEC in all areas…maybe add ECU and Tulane when AAC starts collapsing in a few years from now.

We want the conference to be taken seriously. No matter what we do, however many bowl games we have over the other G5, however many teams are nationally ranked, no matter how good our on-field products are, the mainstream sports world still treats us like the FBS doormat of old.
Yeah we're not in big markets...but take a look at our friends over at the AAC and CUSA and look how well that's worked out for them. We have national brands, good rivalries, but nobody talks about us. Head-to-head we can give the AAC members a run for their money, so it'd be nice for ESPN, SI and all of the other media outlets and fan bases to give us the credit we deserve and not this stereotype as a conference of leftovers no other conferences wanted.
With the current shake up, the MW, AAC and Sun Belt are all on a pretty equal footing...so treat us that way, geographical location be damned.

I think pretty obvious: try have a competitive, captivating conference.
My question to you is are north Texas fans all over the P6 mantra? (Because I’ve read and seen unt fans ridicule it dozens of times)

Interesting answer. Thank you.
Any chance the Sun Belt extends offers to their old members like WKU, MTSU, or FIU? Or have those programs burned their bridges.

Far be it from me to pretend Charlotte is good, but they’ve won twice as many games this year than ODU has in their last 2 seasons. They’ve won twice as many games as ODU and USM combined this year. Just to be clear, I think Charlotte sucks, but currently they objectively and measurably suck way less than those 2. Records don’t lie and you guys are the one who always swear adding winners matters more than markets. In that case adding the last 4 CUSA champs, 4 of the top 6 in the current standings, and the only top 25 team seems to be the “winners”.

Much, thank you for asking. I'm back at work again. I do hope ODU comes out of this in a better situation. I wish y'all the best.
