East Carolina and Ga State should trade places.
East Carolina wants to be in a regional conference and Georgia State wants to be in the American Athletic Conference.
East Carolina playing yearly games against App State, Marshall and renewing their rivalry with Southern Miss just makes sense.

lol its actually te opposite... ecu would not even consider it...you are asking them to turn down 7mil, to go ge 700k-1mil in the sunbelt..in a drastically worse basketball league, with worse academic schools
and funny enough goeriga state new preisdent/leaders also arent sports people and are content at the level they are at, without having to put more money into sports. the aac would have to convince them.. and if you need convincing to jump from the sunbelt to the aac, it likely isnt the right fit as it means you are hesitant to invest

That 7,000,000 is G-O-N-E as soon as the Big 12 calls up Memphis and SMU!

Oh look, another thread from people that are happy not to be in the AAC. You are sure making that apparent.

I bet if you ask East Carolina fans if it weren't for the $7,000,000 TV deal which Conference they'd rather be in. They'd say the New Sun Belt.

So they can play a terrible usm team? Coastal will be awful when they lose their coach, then you get Monroe and a fcs team! And dreadful basketball

Aww how cute one of the 5 fans from Charlotte is weighing in on this conversation. I'm talking to and old conference mate a rival... Your program was still on mama's boobs when East Carolina and Southern Miss were having wars.

So they can sell out Dowdy Fickling Stadium playing games against ranked teams like App State, Louisiana or regional games against Marshall and JMU.

Okay maybe a 5 to 6 million reduction after Houston and SMU leave. Let's say the Sun Belt makes $1.2million per team which sounds about right now you have to factor in the renegotiation with ESPN having Marshall Southern Miss Old Dominion and James Madison. That'll put the Sun Belt right around $2 million per team

i already accounted for that, according to cbs the sunbelt currently makes 500k from its tv deal, identical to c-usa
my 600k-1.2mil was guestimating your new payout

No question in my mind that Sun Belt will be premiere football league in 6-7 years. What separates the new Sun Belt from the old is four letters, ESPN. The new Sunbelt now has ESpN as its benefactor and imo ESPN loves the Sun Belt. The Belt played this round of team shifting right by taking schools with a real history of winning. I think UAB might have some buyers remorse right about now. Hope I am wrong, but I would much rather ECU play In the Belt than against the new AAC schools. We have nothing in common with Texas schools or even Charlotte for that matter.

sunbelt and the aac are on contract till 2031 with ESPN
ESPN will televise 50 football aac games (wit 20 guaranteed on a top netowrk), and 65 basketball games (+3 CBS basketball games)...
ESPN will air 15 sunbelt football games a year, no top channel guarantees, and no basketball outside of the sunbelt tournament at the end of the season

You're looking at old numbers... The new TV deal pays Sun Belt schools $1.3 million per team. That's going to be up around $2 million soon
