CUSA folding?
I doubt it happens with exit money coming in— if it comes in. Even if only 3 are left they could help finance 5 incoming schools. If Liberty joins they have money to throw around too.

But if they fold would the 4 additions be here in the Fall of 2022?

The whole conference would fold if UTEP, FIU, or LaTech found a home.

The AAC schools waived voting rights. So they need 6/8 to dissolve the conference.

The 3 leftovers will probably add Liberty, and NMSU. Then find out what to do with the 30/40 million.

(assuming WKU/MTSU move to MAC)

That’s only 5. You’ll still need one more to be a conference.

For sure, people have talked about y’all’s old friends UALR and UTA.
Then UCONN and UMASS as football only.

RE: CUSA folding?
I think if FIU, MTSU, WKU, La Tech and UTEP want they can survive as C-USA

Invite NMSU, Missouri State, SFA, Lamar, and SHSU.

That’s a 10 team conference right there. Invite LR and UTA from SBC and have 12.

Eventually more WAC or even ASUN members can come up until you have 12/14 or 14/16 or just 12 or 14 all sports members.

ACU, McNeese, UCA, JSU are 4 others who could be interested.

RE: CUSA folding?
Exit fees are money well spent to get out of CUSA. I've hated the conference ever since we joined. I gave it a chance our first year but then I watched their scheduling, their money dried up, Conference recognition was slanted. The basketball tournament was a joke, with pop-up bleachers, and sound proof curtains.

Why would WKU and MTSU want all teams to the west?

To be a FBS conference, you need 8.

I don't know from Adam but I'd be willing to wager that the NCAA would grant them whatever waivers they need to limp along until they can get back in compliance. The last bid-holding conferences to die I believe were the Metro and Great Midwest, and that was because almost everyone left to start CUSA, oddly enough. I can't imagine they want the optics of allowing a conference to die and forcing the remaining institutions into limbo for things that were out of their hands.

I think Liberty would love to take control of a whole FBS conference.

Why would WKU and MTSU want all teams to the west?

Because they don’t want to get stuck as independents with 0 media deal and access to post-season play. Missouri St, UCA, JSU, McNeese, and the three Texas teams I listed wouldn’t be that terrible for them. NMSU gives UTEP a travel partner so you get a 2 for 1 in olympic sports when you travel out there. MSU, SFA, NMSU add some good basketball that LT, UTEP, and WKU would want.

I may not necessarily want LT or the others with us but I really hope the 5 remaining are able to piece something together that’s good for them.

Conference is toast. I would not pay a cent in exit fees. Make them sue 8-10 schools at once for it. Good luck with that.

RE: CUSA folding?
It got compressed weird so it's a little blurry in some spots but this is what I think C-USA could look like. I imagine Liberty would say no thanks to this. They would have 10 football teams / 12 olympic members. Could look to add more 2 other FCS teams at a later date? Who knows. Maybe UMASS and Liberty would agree to play FB only to give them 12 FB and 12 other.

FIU, WKU, MTSU, LT, and MoSt DIVA
Lamar, SHSU, SFA, UTEP, and NMSU DIVB

Add Little Rock to DIVA; UTA to DIVB for non-football sports. Pretty darn good basketball conference too.
