Would JMU fit culturally with us in the Belt? Are their fans as passionate as the southern based programs?

They definitely have strong fan support and I think average around 24k in football attendance. Keep in mind they are playing the likes of Elon or whoever. I think they would have even greater support if they played an FBS schedule. That's just my opinion though.

They have historically been not very good to straight up awful in basketball, but they did just finish the construction on a brand new arena, so the administration at least cares about improving it, unlike some of our current CUSA members.

You guys know this. It takes a few years to get your feet wet to playing FBS football. And Sun Belt football will be no joke. I hope their fan base understands it will not be an easy transition.

Indeed. Makes a lot more sense to bring an established FBS program. Not to mention they know what they are getting in basketball with WKU. JMU is still 'potential' on that as well. I just get the sense that SB has a more favorable history with JMU than they do WKU.

I should also mention nearly 100% of the JMU fans I know (ancedotal I know) prefer to stay in FCS. They like winning, they like FCS playoffs, and they like being national contenders. Obviously they don't represent JMU, but sometimes I think they are more in line with the realistic fan compared to the die-hards that post on message boards.

I guess I missed the official announcement from USM that they are going to the Belt. I assume it’s out there since Marshall is the hold up. I also must have missed the report that has credible sources that Marshall is holding things up. Man, I’m out of the loop.

I think WKU would be a great add for the SBC.

When it comes to football and basketball, I'd much rather see WKU come in than JMU.

Who says we are making all these demands? It’s all Twitter and social media tripe. Trust me, our fans want to come and would be excited. The issue is, reportedly our BOG is the hang up and trying to determine what’s best for our entire program. I can’t fault them for that.
That being said, If we don’t move to the SB, then our total program will die a slow death in a very weak and putrid CUSA. WKU may head to the SB or they and MT may head to the MAC.

A lot has happened in the past day or so.

Things are moving really fast.

Marshall was happy in CUSA 2.0. Even though we weren't doing very well. But the conference Marshall signed up for in 2003 no longer exists. That conference had Memphis, UCF, Houston, Tulane, UAB, Southern Miss and others.

It would be the same if WKU would have stayed in the SB and the SB got tore apart and schools like UTC, NMSU, Sam Houston and others would be added, WKU would not have been happy.

Most Marshall fans were happy in the MAC. Its just we didn't fit culturally and no one actually wanted us there.

The only movement is increased internet speculation. No one here knows what is really moving.
