I know there has been some frenzy over the CUSA saving JMU + Liberty expansion plan. It’s smoke.

Take a breath and think about it instead of reflexive reacting to it.

Media reports say AAC does not have firm numbers on what the bottom line is on losses and additions.

How can the save CUSA plan by making it the mid Atlantic 6 + 3 offer any firm figures?

Typically tv contracts bar you from negotiating replacement with others until final year or later. CUSA schools can only talk to CBS about tier 1 and maybe lower. stadium about tier 2 and maybe lower. ESPN about tier 3.

So CUSA salvation plan is highly restricted in who they can talk to and the subject matter.

Guess what issue that creates? How do you prove to the current members and potential members what post-Apocalyptic value is? CBSSN ain’t committing to paper, email, nor text a number that says this is the value if you add this school that is currently under contract elsewhere. That’s how you get sued and lose for interference with contract.

So it becomes a trust me game.

You have doubt swirling about others bailing.

Marshall isn’t hitching it’s wagon to hopes and dreams.

SBC 14 isn’t going to happen because the Herd strong armed anyone or App threatened to defect.

If SBC 14 happens, it happens because the presidents and chancellors looked at 13 and 14 and said I think they make us a better league not because they are runts that got drug along.

Assumptions on the mythical CUSA 2023 media deal has been almost crazy.

If SBC is willing to accommodate us by moving to 14 then I don't really care what the potential new CUSA would look like or what kind of media deal it would get.

Now that the AAC moves are formal and such, things will move faster. I bet we hear more about USM this week and maybe the other three after. I am sure they want it all at once but it seems USM is leaking info.

Our people have been trying to drag info out from wherever they can find it though. I know. I keep annoying every possibly connected person I know in the program.

Why would we not be excited to join the SunBelt? I’m glad our university and fan base is energized and not trying to act like a donkey while knocking on the front door. I love Marshall. From Bower and Pruett we go back. But the Herd needs to not act like turds and either come on or get out of WKU’s way.

Well...I mean, the fact that you guys will be within driving distance of every West Division team and a couple Eastern Division Teams probably isn't good for fans who have cars with poor gas mileage...

Its not as simple as that right now. Marshall is in the middle of a presidential search. I can't see them turning this down or at least I hope not. The new president may have already been picked and the formal announcement is suppose to be Oct 28. I don't know how much influence the new president will have but Im sure they would want to hear his/her input on things.

I know what this is like though when the 1st realignment went down, CUSA wanted Marshall and UCF from the MAC. But UCF dragged their feet for a good month because they thought they may get vetted to go to the BE. I remember everyone saying either crap or get off the pot to UCF.

I didn't say you shouldn't be, we all should be. Since the AAC went market shopping. The 4 of us, if it is 4 with the production of us 4 should help elevate the SB even that much more. I truly believe if done right the SB can compete with the MWC as the top G5 conference. Southern Miss, Marshall, ODU and James Madison each have different strengths right now and each bring something unique to the table.

I think Aresco is going to soon find out what all of us already know. None of those 6 have the potential to do what UCF done or what Cincy is trying to do. They are also mostly all bad to mediocre.
