Is it common to have games on graduation day? Why did they agree to that?

Can't work around every college's graduation dates or you wouldn't be able to play for about 2 weeks in May

Looks like we have clinched no worse than the 4th seed and could wind up 3rd if we sweep the last two from Elon and if UNCW loses the last two to JMU. 3rd, while highly unlikely, would be nice because it would get us out of Charleston's side of the bracket and would set us up to play Hofstra if we win on Wednesday.

Tribe wins 4-3.

Elon rallied bringing home 2 in the bottom of the 9th. Tribe blew through five hurlers.

Team peaking at the right time...seven straight wins with tight pitching and timely, sometimes powerful batting.

Staff has handled pitching well. with short outings per hurler keeping their arms fresh and everybody contributing.

This team wasn't supposed to win and their winning record belies the pre-season gloom.

I see from the boxscore that Joe Delossantos left the game after only one at bat. Hopefully he is not injured; he has been a major contributor. I guess today's boxscore will tell us if we need to worry.

Sweep for the good guys.

Delossantos played the whole game today, including hits in his last two at bats.

Team wins 8th in a row, sweeps Elon at their place! Talk about playing your best baseball of the season just when it counts.

EIGHT different hurlers for our Tribe this afternoon...all but Cone, who hurled two innings, pitched one inning apiece. Pitchers surrendered just five hits.

It's always important to be hot going into the tournament.

Now we're going to see how the pitchers fare in a double elimination setting. It's a lot easier throwing on a day or two rest when you only throw 40 or 50 pitches.

Plus, get to play right back at an Elon field you have immediate positive vibes about.

We open against NE at noon on Wednesday.

As things turned out, I think I'm happy the Tribe didn't get the #3 seed. Northeastern will be tough, but I wouldn't have wanted a fourth consecutive game against Elon on their home field, especially after winning two straight nail-biters.

Speaking of which -- I'm probably alone in this, but unless a critical seeding is on the line, I would just as soon lose one of the last few games before a tournament. Call it "getting the bad luck out of your system," or whatever, but I think coming in on a hot streak can sometimes set you up for a fall.

I think that is less of an issue in baseball where the next pitcher is so important. But, I get the concept. Based on that, the Tribe will be in trouble Wednesday. Big winning streak for us while Northeastern barely survived into the field by winning the last game at Delaware late.

The rational part of my brain says there's no connection and not to worry. The fan part of me sees a basketball team that hits the tourney on a 20-game winning streak and thinks, "don't pick them, they're going to have a crap game soon".
