I think you are right Goliath, FAU and UAB have outpaced the CUSA remnants in CUSA 3.0 if my math is correct.

However, I don't think either of you outpaced Marshall, WKU or La Tech, but I can check...

RE: AAC Additions vs CUSA Remnants since 2013
Because this was brought up....CUSA 3.0 (2013-2020)

FAU: 46-50, 2 CUSA Championships, 2-1 in bowls

UAB: 42-32, 2 CUSA Championships, 1-2 in bowls (34-16 since resurecting in 2017!)

Marshall: 68-34, 1 top 25 finish, 1 CUSA Championship, 5-2 in bowls

WKU: 54-37, 1 top 25 finish, 2 CUSA Championships, 4-2 in bowls

La Tech: 61-40, 6-1 in bowls

What you have is 3 schools that have proven they win and dont stay down very long when they do have a bad season of football. At this point you cant not say the same about any of the 6 schools leaving CUSA for the AAC.

Of course that could change but historically its just not there for the 6 programs. I'm not talking about 1960 and Rice but mostly since we all moved up to FBS. Most have yet to prove they can go through a number of coaching changes and still win. This is Western's 13th year and during that time 6 different head coaches.

Make no mistake about it at this level of FBS...coaching/system is probably 50% of winning. Having the correct QB to run that system is another 30%

Like I said some schools have not proven they have staying power or can overcome a bad hire. Yet. I personally believe the 4 headed monster of Marshall, ODU, Tech and Western competes with any G5 at the top and if they do stay together is a more solid base to build a football/basketball G5 conference than the new AAC or SBC. Of course you cant have 6 bottom feeder added to them. If you add a Liberty and one more good basketball school. You have a solid 4 in football and 5 in basketball . With potential for a solid 5th (ODU) in football

But at this point its not likely to happen

The ACC should have just taken UAB and FAU, they are about 90% of the good stats listed. The fact they didn’t just says they expect Memphis and SMU, at a minimum, to be gone in two years.

The Rice, UNT and Charlotte adds are puzzling, no doubt. I get the UTSA add.

If the AAC pulled in FAU, UAB, App State, Marshall, La Tech and WKU they pull in probably the cream of the crop.

But they didn't. And that's why they are getting blasted. Those are not sour grapes, just facts, and not feelings.
