Or better yet, don't schedule them to play at all. The Big 12 doesn't owe them any favors.

I could be fine with that too.

television partner might require that the game be played.

Correct. We have to maximize ratings/profits. For two years all rivalries must continue. After that, we can be creative.

Cincinnati (schedule a couple prime time games in Paul Brown; OU?)
Houston (play home & home with Texas- one game in NRG Stadium)
Iowa State
Kansas (wish we could replicate that atmosphere against Mizzou in Arrowhead)
KSU
UCF (prime time game or two in Camping World?)
WVU

Baylor
BYU
OU
Oklahoma State
TCU
Texas
Tech

RE: How will the Big 12 make the divisions
I'm now believing it will be a set rival but no divisions. Some sort of modified pod system about how teams rotate in, but the top 2 overall will play in the CCG.

My predicted set rival pair:

Cincy-WVU
Kansas-KSU
ISU-OSU
BYU-Tx Tech
TCU-Baylor
UCF-Houston

UC admin said no more games at PBS outside of the ones currently contracted. Fans don't want anymore games at PBS either.

Good to know. Why? What games are currently contracted? What if Texas comes to town?

The why is because it cost the university money for rent, etc and because fans don't want games to be played there. PBS is lifeless and bland NFL stadium. The atmosphere doesn't come close to Nippert. Fans and donors don't like games there and I'm sure the companies and fans that pay for the suites and club seats like getting to use those expensive ass seats. UC has to pay rent and other expenses at PBS that they wouldn't for Nippert.

The only games contracted are two Miami (OH) games, one of which will occur this coming season.

If Texas comes to town then they can play in Nippert stadium like everyone else

UCF, Houston and Cincinnati cannot all be in the same division. ESPN talking heads haters like Booger and Finebaum would simply characterize it as the g5 division in the big 12. One of the three need to be a different division. out of three. Simply move Houston to BYU’s division. Move OU north.

I don’t buy the notion that OU and Texas have to be in the same division. Teams in each division need to maximize home ticket revenues for the few years those two are in the conference.

Cincinnati just played in the CFP. UCF just beat Florida. You realize there will be three crossover games, right? We can not allow the possibility of a Texas-Oklahoma championship game. My proposal would have Houston in the east division for just two years. What if your schedule for 2023 looked like this?:

Texas Southern
@Rice
North Texas
Texas (NRG Stadium would be must-see TV)
@ Oklahoma State
Texas Tech
@Cincinnati
Iowa State
@Kansas
Kansas State
@UCF
West Virginia

Are you really gonna b*tch about this lineup?

RE: How will the Big 12 make the divisions
I think the one with BYU in the east division for those two years makes the most sense. They are already accustomed to travel and playing a national schedule. It wouldn't be too much different than Navy playing in the west division of the AAC. Once UT and OU leave them simply shift BYU over to the west division and problem solved. This keeps Red River Rivalry intact for another 2 years and also ensures as others have said there cannot be an OU vs UT conference championship game. Better yet if say UCF or Cincy wins the east division and beats an Oklahoma or Texas in the CCG then that stabilizes the conference even further and gives more credence to the new members moving forward.

With all that said, you could have Houston join the east division but 3 of 6 of the east being G5s coming up from the AAC would look pretty weak and talking heads likely would slam it. Houston NEEDS to start playing all their in-state for immediately in order to generate interest and get a jump start on some rivalries. We know Houston has had attendance issues in the past but this can help be curtailed by Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech, and OSU coming to town as division rivals. I have a feeling the Houston fanbase will be much more interested in playing those in-state Texas teams vs ISU, KU, KSU etc.

Not going to b*tch about that lineup. Get to watch four out the first five games in person, with only travel (flight) to UCF. Not bad , not bad at all.

I can guarantee that you are very correct about UH playing the instate rivals. But if a game is in the city of Houston and it's not the Kick-Off Classic, UH's home game against UT will be at TDECU, just like TCU and Baylor's home games against UT at their campus stadiums.

It looks like Divisions are now going the way of the dinosaurs.
