Let’s just put this whole ref discussion to bed.

As a Coastal fan, did I feel like there were some ridiculously egregious calls (and no calls) that hurt Coastal? Yep. And I’m sure App feels the same way about their side.

But our offensive line just flat out did not protect McCall and give him the time he needed back there. He was rushed, and that’s because App’s D line was playing very well. And it got worse as the game went on. Their D line wore down our O line.

The refs didn’t beat us. App beat us.

Ya got me beat by 2 years! It was a pretty special night. Glad you made it back safe. After grabbing a snack to let the traffic clear out we rolled into Gastonia about 2:30. Yesterday was a tough one to stay awake. Appreciate your dedication!

I commented at the end of the 3rd qtr that the Coastal OL looked really tired. They had just given up a sack to end the 3rd and slowly walked to the other end of the field to start the 4th. Promptly gave up another sack and that was pretty much it. Clark was right in his assessment that Coastal hadn't been really tested and only played one complete game. Relatively easy schedule compared to our very tough one. McCall got hit a lot and by the end of the game his throws were nowhere near being on target.

i'm really searching for what calls the CCU fans are so pissed about? Most of our punt/kick returns that went for >20 yards got called back, most of the 50/50 calls went as called, but there was nothing egregious. Malik didn't fumble on the 1, it was called correctly. Cam didn't score on the 1st TD, it was called back. The CCU didn't intercept that ball in the end zone, it was called correctly. I just don't get it.

Okay, in the one you remember, the ref missed a blatant pass interference call. Go to any message board with a game thread that isn't CoastalFans and you'll see people mentioning it.

So in that scenario, you get flagged for a 15 yard penalty. I highly doubt Hennigan would've done that if the corner was not taunting in some way as well, which is why the ref didn't throw the flag in the first place.

In a basic scenario, they throw the Pass Interference flag and the call you mention and then throw the flag on Thomas, so the ball is right back where it was but App has a first down. So the non-call was a net benefit to Coastal.

This tells me that FoxNews is still very heavily watched.

Its funny to me how people can see the same thing and perceive things so differently. I was at the game and obviously didn't have access to the ESPN slow mo reviews and everyone around me (we're all APP fans) felt like the REFS were against us and for Coastal because of all the reviews and penalties. It seemed like every couple of mins there was stoppages in play due to these reviews and commercials to the point that it was impossible to maintain any momentum.
It wasn't until I got home and watched the game over again on ESPN that I got to see these reviews and felt like the game was evenly called.

It's not an issue of the refs are against one team or another.

The issue is refs are trending on relying on review SOOOO much more and calling the play on the field in a manner in which a review is more likely. This brings more attention to the calls and elevating the importance of those decisions in the view of fans.

Every call was reviewed and called correctly some in each teams' favor.

App had 230 more yards of offense offset by losing the turnover battle by 2 (one unforced on the freaking 6 yard line). App's defense dominated the run and all phases in the second half and honestly isn't getting enough credit for this win. I've been vocal on the lack of Dline pressure, my crow tasting amazing Wednesday.

I'm not making excuses. Just saying that was the only missed call I saw. You can overanalyze it to death if you want, just stating that was the only blatant call I saw that was missed. Other missed calls I think are just part of football.
