Details Behind the Kamala Harris Space Video Get Even Worse
Quote:I wrote the other day about a project clearly designed to make Kamala Harris appear more likable – having her in a NASA YouTube kids’ series about science called “Get Curious with Vice President Harris.”
Maybe this is part of the effort of the crisis communications person Harris hired to help make her go over better.
But she’s so clearly overacting and so treacly, it comes across as even more forced and inauthentic than her usual inauthentic way. As I wrote, it’s as bad as Hillary Clinton and the hot sauce pandering. But they do manage to do the science video without Kamala’s trademark cackle, so that was, I must say, a plus.

Then, speaking of lack of authenticity, it turned out that the kids were actors as well. So it turns out Kamala wasn’t the only one acting in that clip. One of the kid actors described how he was asked to submit a monologue discussing something he is passionate about and three questions for a “world leader.” Odd description for someone who is not doing a lot of actual leading on anything.
Not only that but now it turns out the production company name behind the video is so appropriate – Sinking Ship Entertainment – and it’s not an American-based company, it’s based out of Canada, according to the Washington Examiner.
What better description of the Biden/Harris time so far? Sinking Ship Entertainment. Harris couldn’t have scripted it better.
It also turns out that she was filming this from August 11 to August 13. Guess what was happening over that time that maybe it would have been important to pay attention to? The Taliban advance in Afghanistan. Kabul fell on August 15. The Biden/Harris excuse? No one could have predicted that it was going to happen that fast. Well, not if you’re not paying attention to anything.
Now Kamala is supposed to be in charge of the Space Council. But on a scale of things she’s supposed to be addressing, appearing in a video with kids to make her look better because she’s unlikeable doesn’t even come close in importance compared to things like Afghanistan or to the crisis at the border. She was actually assigned to do something to resolve the issues at the border. In August, when she was filming this video, more than 208,000 people were encountered entering illegally by the Border Patrol and it’s predicted to get even worse this month with about twice that August number, with 400,000 predicted for October. Those numbers, of course, don’t include the people who enter illegally who the CBP never encounters.
As my colleague Sister Toldjah reported yesterday, the United States and Mexico were holding high-level talks on Friday on a new accord that “would combat drug trafficking, fentanyl smuggling, money laundering and illegal immigration” in the region. “Secretary of State Antony Blinken headed up the US contingent to Mexico that also included Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Attorney General Merrick Garland and other high-level administration officials traveling to Mexico City,” per the New York Post. But guess who wasn’t at this meeting during the discussion of root causes of illegal immigration? Kamala Harris, the “root causes” border czar.
Where was Harris? She was off visiting a bakery in New Jersey and pushing COVID vaccinations.
NJ.com noted that “Harris got some red velvet cupcakes and slices of carrot cake, pineapple coconut cake, and sponge cake with chocolate icing.”
Priorities, right?
But there may be something to the idea that she’s basically missing in action because she really doesn’t want to be playing second fiddle and connected to Joe Biden as Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson said last night. Especially when she’s doesn’t want to be connected to the disasters he’s creating as I said. But the bottom line is that she’s actually supposed to be doing something here, especially if she actually hopes to run on anything in the future. If her ultimate record is that she hid out, hung out with kids and went to a lot of bakeries, I’m just thinking that might not go over well.

Trevor Bernardino, a 13-year-old actor from Carmel, California, and one of five teenagers featured in the video, was asked to submit a monologue discussing something he is passionate about and three questions for a world leader, according to an interview with KSBW TV. Trevor then interviewed with the production director.
“And then after that, like a week later, my agent called me, and he’s like, ‘Hey Trevor, you booked it,’” Trevor said. He didn’t learn until much later that he would be meeting with Harris, who was appointed to lead the National Space Council earlier this year.
Bernardino was joined by Derrick Brooks II, another child actor , Emily Kim, likewise a child actor , Zhoriel Tapo, a child actor and aspiring journalist who has interviewed former first lady Michelle Obama , and Sydney Schmooke.
“All five of them are actors,” Bernardino’s father, Carlo, told the Washington Examiner in an interview Monday.
“He’s a child actor — he’s been trying to do this type of thing for a while. And so he has a manager and an agent in LA and they send him castings,” Bernardino said. “This was a casting call, a very specific one where he had to write essentially a monologue about what he’s really passionate about and he wrote a monologue about the environment.”
He added, “The producer of the series came back to him and asked him to write three questions that he’d ask a very important person ... after that, he had a live Zoom interview with the producer of the series and then he got the part.”
Trevor didn’t learn that he would be meeting with Harris “until the day flying out, essentially,” his father said. “The producers wanted a big surprise.”
Carlo Bernardino said he hopes the series will be picked up for broader distribution.
“It was pitched to my son and us as a pilot,” he said, but whether it continues will “depend on the reaction and what the producers want to do — our hope is that it gets picked up.”
Last week, YouTube Originals announced Get Curious with Vice President Harris, a series that aims to get more children interested in space. The project was produced by Sinking Ship Entertainment, an Emmy award-winning media company based in Toronto that specializes in live-action programming, according to its website .
Filmed in August and released during World Space Week, the video shows a group of children meeting with Harris at her residence, the Naval Observatory, where she introduces herself as the chairwoman of the National Space Council. Before meeting the vice president, NASA astronaut Shane Kimbrough “beams” down from the International Space Station for a virtual meet and greet with the children, leading them on a scavenger hunt to find the tools to build a telescope.
For Trevor Bernardino, meeting Harris was the highlight of the visit, he said.
“The most exciting part was definitely meeting Vice President Harris. There’s nothing that can top that. Like honestly, she just sat us down. She’s super charismatic. She’s everything that I ever thought of her, plus more,” he said . “She made me feel like one of her peers, and at the time, I felt super important. I was talking to her face to face.” Bernardino’s talent agency shared a montage on Instagram.
The video, which by Monday had garnered some 114,000 views on YouTube, as well as 1,900 likes and 2,800 dislikes, was shared online by the vice president’s aides and supporters. A trailer for the show drew 48 likes and 136 dislikes. Comments on both videos have been disabled.
“I am so so so excited this project is out!” wrote Emily Keller, a YouTube executive overseeing progressive civics content partnerships, according to her LinkedIn . She was the Democratic National Committee’s social media director until June.
“We are over the moon to be working with Vice President Harris on this exciting special that encourages kids to ask questions and explore space,” said Nadine Zylstra, head of family, learning, and impact for YouTube Originals. “Upholding our commitment to inspiring kids’ interests and learning, this special delivers quality, educational programming to our young viewers around the globe — and it’s pretty cool to have the Vice President of the United States and astronaut Shane Kimbrough help us do it.”
The actors flew to Washington during the second week of August, filming Wednesday through Friday. At the time, the U.S.-backed government in Afghanistan was in collapse, with Washington’s withdrawal from the two-decade conflict drawing comparisons to the fall of Saigon in 1975.
On Twitter, detractors were quick to poke fun at Harris’s performance.
“‘You can have the border/immigration, voting rights, and also, uh, let’s see, the vast expanses of the unknown universe,’” quipped Emily Tamkin, U.S. editor for the New Statesman, a British publication, referencing Harris’s challenging slate of assignments.
In one segment, Harris expounds on the virtues of space exploration and scientific discovery.
“I love the idea of exploring the unknown,” Harris said. “And then, there’s other things that we just haven’t figured out or discovered yet. To think about so much that’s out there that we still have to learn, like, I love that. I love that. And so, I’m very excited about the Space Council.”
“We’re going to learn so much,” Harris said, telling the children they “you’re going to literally see the craters on the moon with your own eyes. With your own eyes. I’m telling you.”
Paired with the caption, “Me when I miscalculate a micro dose and start fully tripping midday,” the clip has been viewed close to a million times.
Bernardino said the response had been “eye-opening” for him, and that while “a lot of people love it,” others are “torching it, and these are just a bunch of kids.”
He added, “They’re trying to bring attention to NASA National Science Week.”
Still, the producers may have seen this coming given Harris’s position as a lightning rod.
“If you go to the YouTube link, what’s interesting is I think the producers anticipated this — there’s no comment [section], so you can’t [add] a comment, and if you look at the thumbs up and thumbs down, there’s actually more thumbs down, which is a shame, because I think this is a great thing to draw attention to the space program,” he said.
Since taking office, Harris has drawn scrutiny for her interactions with voters and reporters, including for a biting retort during a televised interview while visiting Guatemala.
Critics have painted this latest moment as emblematic of what some perceive as a challenge in connecting with ordinary voters.

Last month, the vice president’s office hired two messaging gurus to help finesse her communications efforts.
One of Harris’s new advisers, Lorraine Voles, has a portfolio including “crisis management” and “marketing and rebranding.”

When last we left you, “border czar” Harris was getting called out for making a pit stop at a New Jersey bakery on Friday as other senior Biden administration officials were visiting Mexico for a critical meeting with Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to discuss a new accord that would “combat drug trafficking, fentanyl smuggling, money laundering and illegal immigration” at the border, as reported by the New York Post.
In addition to that, Harris has also been widely mocked for a bizarre video that was released last week which showed her in front of young children and putting on a performance talking excitedly about space and science that made her sound more like an animated side character from a Disney movie than it did the VPOTUS. More embarrassing was the revelation today that some of the children in the clip were actually child actors who auditioned for their spots in the video.
During his program tonight on Fox News, host Tucker Carlson brought on conservative commentator Candace Owens to discuss the video and what it really said about Harris. They both touched on the fact that it showed how desperate the White House was to make her look authentic (a point my colleague Bonchie made well in his write-up earlier) despite the fact that everything about her public appearances and speeches looks staged. But Owens zeroed in on something else that I think gets to the heart of why Harris never looks comfortable when she appears in public on behalf of the administration: She hates her job and does not want to be the Vice President.
“To me personally when I watch her, I wonder whether or not … does she even want to be Vice President?” Owens asked rhetorically. “I think that’s a question that’s on a lot of Americans’ minds when it comes to her, because every time you see her she just seems so phony. It seems like she’s playing a part that she genuinely doesn’t want to play.”
Owens went on to tell Carlson that she thinks the reports of the “shade going on between Kamala Harris and Joe Biden” are “accurate.” Owens said she believes Harris “genuinely resents being the Vice President of the United States, she genuinely resents being subordinate to Biden and she genuinely resents every element of her job including scripted elements” like the space video.
Owens then opined that though it seemed like it would be hard for Democrats to put forth someone more unbearable and unlikeable than Hillary Clinton on the national stage, they managed to do it with Kamala Harris.

I think there is a lot of truth to this argument, especially when you consider that Kamala Harris enjoys being the center of attention and in front of the flashing lights and cameras, not playing second fiddle to anyone. Not that there’s anything necessarily wrong with that, but when you’re picked to be someone’s Vice Presidential running mate you have to console yourself with the fact that you will always be second fiddle unless, God forbid, something happen to the President. If you can’t then you have no business even considering the offer.
Al Gore, Dick Cheney, Joe Biden, and Mike Pence all seemed to relish and appeared quite comfortable in their roles as VP attack dogs even though Gore and Biden, like Harris is rumored to be, had higher ambitions. Harris hasn’t seemed comfortable with the situation since she was announced as Biden’s pick, and that hasn’t changed at all through the entire time she has actually served in the role.
Harris’ inability to come off as authentic and genuinely happy with her job also stems in the part from the fact that a lot of her political life has been scripted and at times gifted to her, if you’ll recall back to the days of her affair with married California Democrat mover and shaker Willie Brown and the doors that “relationship” opened by Brown’s own admission.
And in a way, the offer of the Vice Presidency was gifted to her as well after wokesters in the Democratic party hounded Joe Biden to pick a woman of color for his running mate, giving him no choice but to pick from among others the likes of Stacey Abrams and Susan Rice, the former who was a little too eager and inexperienced while the other would have lent credence to the rumors that Biden was preparing to make his time in office the third term of the Obama presidency.
Biden was applauded at the time for choosing Harris, considering they were bitter rivals for a time during the primary campaign season. But clearly whatever luster was there for Harris in Biden’s eyes has worn off, as during an August event celebrating women’s achievements while welcoming the female NBA champions to the White House, Biden literally could not name one reason why he picked her to be his running mate:

Am I the only one wishing that she had taken a ride of Bezos' phallic rocket instead of Shatner? How appropriate it would've been, but then I know millions would be disappointed to see the ***** rocket land safely.
