On the other hand, we shouldn't even be most embarrassed football team in the Magnolia state: Hows about Mussussuupi "we're in the SEC and you're not" State?.....NO SEC championship in football since 1941...losing at home 49-9 to Alabumble...with the SAME advantages as the Tide, Georgia, Auburn et al, with NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT.

Oh yeah, they had 60K Satdee and we had 6K for basically the same results...

So at least we suck on a budget

Might I suggest the SWC....

honestly at this point that might be the only thing to save USM sports programs. You got your mostly bus league and its the only game the USM fans really turn out for. Most years its the highest attended USM game, and I'm talking "ATTENDANCE". Will be able to cut the football spending by 30% and travel by another 500k to 750k and save another 400k because now you wont have to buy this game.

But most important, right off the bat USM will be able to complete at the top 3 of the conference. Who knows, maybe even in the playoffs with in 2 years. Since USM will once again be the top "name" in the south and once again be getting those leftover recruits southern FBS schools cant get. Who knows with in 5 years might be able to make a run at...

North Dakota State and Sam Houston

Not only that USM will now become a 3 sports schools because the USM basketball program should be able to step right in and compete with Prairie View and Texas Southern.

Think about it first year...

winning puts fans in the stands

Or spend the next 3 to 5 years trying to catch the ULM, USA, Troy & Texas State, at the bottom of the SBC . At this point I dont see a time USM competes at the top 3.

Lot to be said for cutting cost and winning games and actually competing at the top of a conference. Who knows with in 5 years USM could be back to sneaking up and beating FBS schools. It will give those future USM students something to tell their grandkids about....

I will add that to a person, every USM fan I encountered was cordial and friendly. That's been the case every time I've been there.

Everybody's got an asshat or two (multiply exponentially for SEC venues), but if USM has any, I haven't run across them.

Yep in my days of attending games, I'd make light jabs at the visitors before offering them a plate of food and cold beer.. Those were the good ol' days.

I feel like we're re-building. Hall is still using some of Hop's talent but eventually that will phase out and the results will get better.

I'm just an old optimist though.

USM fans have always been great and I have a few that are good friends. Always have fun with my Mississippi friends. I don't like seeing USM the way they are now.
